5.0 out of 5 stars Does Nikki channel Ella?
If the first time you heard kd lang, you believed that she really was the reincarnation of Patsy Cline, then you won't have a bit of trouble believing that Nikki Yanofsky channels Ella. This kid is fabulous! As she says, she has has a photographic memory and photographic ear. Add to that some pipes that are well developed WAY beyond her 13 years, throw in what looks to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Technical imitation
Yikes... I had a lot of trouble listening to this. Are the other reviewers raving because she's only 13? The problem is that I feel that she is technically gifted, trained, if you will. Emote? Somehow it all rings false, and while yes, her pitch is excellent, and she is able to put in numerous vocal flourishes like a young Celine Dion, I can't bear listening to her...

The sound and video qualities of the CD and DVD set were excellent.
Fans of Nikki Yanofsky can not be disappointed.
I paid a high rate for postage because I live in the U.S. and the set was not available from Amazon U.S.
The set was well worth the extra cost.

I first heard Nikki on Sirius radio. I immediately ordered the CD from Amazon.ca. Both the CD and he DVD are great.
I can't wait for her next CD.

Yikes... I had a lot of trouble listening to this. Are the other reviewers raving because she's only 13? The problem is that I feel that she is technically gifted, trained, if you will. Emote? Somehow it all rings false, and while yes, her pitch is excellent, and she is able to put in numerous vocal flourishes like a young Celine Dion, I can't bear listening to her voice. The problem is that her voice is ordinary. So other than technical skill, nothing would merit a second listen to any of these songs. Hats off to her vocal teachers, but even if she is gifted technically for her age, I would not even put this on as background music. This sounds like a high schooler affecting, in a grating way, a Mariah Carey jazz style. Thank goodness I did not buy this CD but just borrowed it. I was unimpressed by "I Believe" but heard that she was an exceptional jazz singer. Now I wonder whether the reviewers were paid off by the record company.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just OK, Dec 20 2008

I really wanted to like this album. No doubt this young woman is very talented and there's a youthful exhuberance. But it's only OK and can't come close to Ella Fitzgerald and a very "white" sounding one at that.

Wow - this CD stunk! It was horrible. Worse than sitting through an Elementary School musical! Maybe try again in 10 years once she's grown up - the whole thing was annoying, twangy, and grated on my nerves. This one went straight to the trash - I wouldn't even subject someone to this on eBay! YUCK :-(
