4.0 out of 5 stars Great game but...
...did they even test it before they released it? I've had a lot of trouble; the kind that makes you restart sections with earlier saves. There's bugs, glitches, camera problems and no trophies.

Still, I was able to finish the game even though it was a challenge in every possible way!

When I first started this game I was having fun with it. It was challenging enough to keep me amused, and at times easy enough where I could blow threw a huge section of game. I downloaded the trophy patch and played the game again. This time, I didn't have so much trouble. In fact, I had a the best TR experience ever. I also had bug problems with TR Legend and the boss fights in TR Anniversary were very hard and annoying to perform.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Tomb Raiders of all Ages - continues TR Legend story, May 11 2013
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tomb Raider: Underworld (Video Game)
This game follow the Tomb Raider Legend storyline. So ideally, you would play that game before this one or the Cut-Scenes will bring you up to date. I have not encountered any bugs. As a veteran Tomb Raider, I am excited by Underworld because there has not been any Norse Mythology in the TR series since Chronicles (Spear of Odin). The water world environment is excellent, detail rich, and the PDA helps navigate players less capable of recalling where all the corridors lead to and away from.

I do not think you can compare Encharted to Tomb Raider. Its like comparing Star Trek to Star Wars, they are different and great in their own way.

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

When I first started this game I was having fun with it. It was challenging enough to keep me amused, and at times easy enough where I could blow threw a huge section of game. There was some glitching, but nothing that I couldn't handle, because really, what game doesn't have a glitch or two? Or so I thought, I was just allowing it to save using the auto save as I had done with the Uncharted series, Resistance series, and many others, until about half way threw the game. A major glitch occurred, a game stopping glitch, a glitch so bad that I restarted the section, only to have it happen again...and again...and again. Reading online to see if I could find a patch or repair (or cheat) to get past that section to continue on with game play. I found the solution to be "Restart the game and save frequently". Which I did, which killed the game for me. In the second run threw, it was still fun, but you were constantly stopping and saving after any challenging part just so you wouldn't have to redo it if the game glitched and you had to restart, which I had to do on a few more occasions. I feel that this game was released to early and could have used a few more months of development time. Glitches normally don't bother me much as they do happen and are unavoidable, but this was glitch city. Anything you did earlier in the game, could lead to the path of a glitch later on. After having to restart many times, I found a strategy guide online just so I could avoid paths that would lead to glitching. I felt cheated on this game, I just about gave up on it, and I wish I did. I had about 20 hours into it 6 hours until the first glitch to the first restarting, and 14 hours the second time, with restarting sections, or to previous saves because of glitches. In total if the game was refined, I would guess the game would take 6-10 hours to complete.

If you are looking for a good adventure game, I would suggest spending the extra money and going with Uncharted/Uncharted 2/Uncharted 3 (in that order). Very similar in gaming style, but better graphics and a very strong story line that sucks you in and keeps you entertained and wanting more.

Uncharted is the new Tomb Raider. Comparing anything from Tomb Raider to Uncharted, Uncharted will win hands down (aside from having a hot chick as the main character). Really, the only reason why I bought this game is that I was bored and wanted something to do and picked it out of the value bin, which after I was done it went back where it came, unlike the uncharted games, which I will play over and over again.

Save your money and pass on this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lara Croft shows her age, Oct 30 2010

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tomb Raider: Underworld (Video Game)
I know Lady Croft has been around for awhile, and although a combination of CGI and cosmetic surgery have made her look almost as mesmerizing as Angelina Jolie (the fine, fine thespian that gave rise to my interest in the Tomb Raider series), I can't help but feel this, the only entry in the franchise I've played (and am likely to ever play) pales in comparison to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, let alone its improved sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, even though you can see how the Uncharted series is really following Tomb Raider's lead. I try to work in plugs for the excellent Uncharted games whenever I can, in as many reviews as I can, as I honestly believe 3.5 million gamers per each game is simply not enough.

This game's play is glitchey enough that it will annoy and frustrate you, some environments are easy to get lost in, the ending feels rather anti-climactic. BUT.

On the plus side, it's now cheap, (well, in most places), as the down-on-her-luck Lady Croft has forgone all pretense of nobility and made it to the bargain bin (shop around), and I believe this game is even available as a download from PSN for $15--though I could be wrong.

Oh, and it is now trophy enabled (once you download the patch).
