4.0 out of 5 stars Tricky to talk about
While there is no arguing that this is an expensive keyboard, most people will probably be asking if it's worth it.

Out of the box, I'd have to say no. I have experienced several issues with having my cellphone too close to the onboard USB ports causing the keyboard to...get ready for this...RESTART.

While there is no arguing that this is an expensive keyboard, most people will probably be asking if it's worth it.

Out of the box, I'd have to say no. I have experienced several issues with having my cellphone too close to the onboard USB ports causing the keyboard to...get ready for this...RESTART.

Apparently it's a known issue as a quick search on Logitech's support forums brings up several posts on the subject.

Their is no real documentation on how to change the keyboards back-light colours, so you'll have to use Google for that. (Pro-tip: Check the Logitech G-Series Key Profiler application)

However, if you can get around that stuff...it is a truly amazing piece of technology capable of watching YouTube videos, or even XviD's (Although without sound) on the tiny screen itself. (Can't imagine why you'd want to do that really...).

The default Logitech applications aren't overly impressive as they include an IMAP/POP3 client, standard clock/date apps, etc...

Anybody who buys this keyboard will definitely want to look into an application called LCDHost, which allows true customization of that little LCD screen. (Disclaimer: I have no link to the aforementioned application or creator, I'm just a happy user/fan of it.)

Speaking as a former G15 v1 owner, I have no regrets in purchasing this keyboard as it is solid and performs as well if not better then the original G15. The inclusion of onboard USB 2.0 ports is defiantly handy.

So what are you waiting for? Buy one already!

I have just bought this fairly expensive keyboard and expected to be blown away, but what i got was a colossal disappointment. Within 30 minutes it was apparent that the massive flaws plaguing this keyboard were not going to be my downfall. I immediately contacted logitech support and they had me do a massive run around disabling mobo functions and tweaking ports, which were all for nothing. The major problems were as follows:

1. The keyboard itself would turn off and on while gaming creating lagg and coppy play and when it would turn off the keyboard was inoperable as well as the fancy lcd functions would reset and go back to default settings
2. While typing the keyboard would pause and repeat 1 key about 15 times
3. Run arounds included turning off sli/Crossfire mode to stabilize the unit (This deafeats the purpuse of having a gaming rig running crossfire)

I immediately repackaged the unit and am preparing to return it to amazon for a full refund. I would not recommend this keyboard to anyone and i suggest if you are looking for a serious replacement buy a razor product.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it!!, Sep 1 2011

I have been using that Keyboard for a year, and I must say I'm in love with it.
It's a little noisy, but you can't be unsure of when you typed. The screen can be personalised to your taste with a lots of apps out there, and otherwise it's basically usefull to know if your computer is using a lot of ressources, or to know what time it is when you are playing for a few hours non-stop. :) The colors are totaly customizable, I have my 3 themes, for exemple right now: 1 dark blue for SC2, 1 Light Blue For mass Effect 2, and 1 orange for Deux Ex: Human revolution. really cool to be able to see the letters when you are playing in the dark. And the Preset key are cool for ease "macro"

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't forget that ultimately, underneath the features it's a keyboard., Sep 12 2011
This review is from: Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard (Personal Computers)
The Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard is expensive. That much is obvious.
After a couple weeks of trying it out I'm still not certain it was worth it, that said, i don't think i could ever go back to a normal keyboard.

The keys literally light up any color, it's not like with some things where you have eight colors to choose from, with this board you're given a full spectrum,
and the keys pretty much hit the color you want. The LEDs have some limits however - you're never going to get it 100% but you come pretty close. e.g. white comes out
white with a slight purplish tint, or maybe it's just my eyes... it's that close.

The screen is a gorgeous display - everything on it looks fantastic. The controls are a bit sticky and feel really cheap however, in this day and age, and in a Logitech product I'm a little disappointed by their choice in a really stiff d-pad. Honestly i would have preferred to drop another 50-100 on a touch screen. It's one of those things where you're already spending this much, might as well go the extra mile. My nVidia 580 is out for warranty service right now, so i can't really speak as to the in-game integration, but i did fire up WoW really quickly just to try it out on day one and everything looked pretty good.

One of the features I really like, and works very well, is the macro keys. There's a nice little key marked "MR", in hitting it, the built in screen displays a quick effortless step by step instruction to program in a macro on the fly. The only issue i have with it at all, is that regardless of your color settings, "MR" does not light up when not engaged, and will solely light up red when engaged. Likewise M1 M2 and M3 (your three on-the-fly choices of key color) only light up when engaged and only light up orange.

I think one thing I was semi-excited for was the youtube feature. It's not too bad at finding the video you're looking for, but to be honest I have not managed to get one single tiny little video to play. I'm given that black youtube box with a play button and go no further. However a quick button press bumps it from the keyboard display to the monitor where it does play. As a result I pretty much just use the feature to find a video I want to watch without interrupting what I'm doing on my 42" display.

Final thoughts:
If you have the money, go for it, you won't regret it.
If you don't have the money, or are on the fence about buying it, reconsider your other options then reconsider them a second time, but don't rule out the G19. Just don't get sucked in by its fancy features either, you won't use half of them. Trust me, I'm there.
