Toss Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" into a blender with "High School Musical" add a dash of shredded abs, a pinch of boyish charm and you've got the making of a new age Broadway show. I hate to admit that I liked it but it's a great diversion from the usual Hollywood fare.

'Were the World Mine' is an enchanting movie experience. Great acting (and singing) by a strong cast, particularly the lead, Tanner Cohen. The story (based on Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream') is fresh and engaging and the music is beautiful. The central character is gay and the movie is sexy (in a fairly family friendly way) but the story's themes of love, acceptance and discovery are universal. This is a really cool movie, and despite what I'm sure was a small budget everything is first rate: the cinematography, art direction and overall look of the sets, etc. is excellent and beautiful. Just a great movie experience.

I will note that it was a frustrating experience trying to get a copy of this movie. Even though I had pre-ordered it, it seemed (just before the release date and for about a week after) that I wouldn't be getting my copy. At the time I'm writing this, 'Were the World Mine' is listed on Amazon.ca as unavailable. It's a shame because this is a great movie and deserves an audience. Hopefully they'll be able to get some copies in stock, but if not I recommend looking elsewhere for this magical movie.

Bought this film on a whim but have now watched it three times and never fail to stop smiling at the end. Romantic escapism at its best with competent acting and a great cast as well as wonderful absurdist fantasy sequences. Great pleasure all round!

This film is just okay. It does not have the emerging bravado that Hedwig did.

I thought the movie, was not worth watching the first time , I would not buy it again if I was to loae it
