2.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome game so long as precision controls aren't needed
This is a great game, but there are certain boss fights that will have you wanting hit the uninstall button. The game's graphics are great, the atmosphere is excellent and for the most part it's a lot of fun. But the lack of responsiveness in this video game to pc port won't become glaring until you really need it. It's at this time when you're face to face with the likes...

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenoomenal Game, Feb 28 2012
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Batman: Arkham Asylum (DVD-ROM)
This game is a MUST for any Batman fan, and highly recommended for anyone else.

I found the game to be very engaging and it stayed true to the lore of Batman. Sorry folks, Batman does not use guns.

It seemed like a bit of a letdown, given that I faced armed thugs all the time, but once you get into the game, you realize you have all the tools.

The gameplay is fun and can quickly go from a slow stalk on a rooftop to explosive action once you jump down in the middle of some bad guys.

The game also offeres you different ways in which to deal with bad guys. There is no "right" way of doing things in most situations. You can jump in the middle of a crowd and take them on, or you can stalk them and take them out one by one.

Great, great game, with a lot of hours of entertainment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best. Comic. Book. Video. Game. EVER!, Nov 2 2009

I have been playing computer games since you could play computer games (loderunner anyone?), and I've been reading comic books since before I could read. Batman had always been one of my favourite comic book characters and as I started reading about this game coming out I was both excited and worried. As it turns out, I didn't need to be worried.

This is an amazing game; it perfectly captures the tone of Batman and the environment he works in. I loved the revamp of Arkham Asylum (in the comics it is not an island) and thought it worked extremely well for the setting, and became a character unto itself. The graphics are beautiful and the voice acting could not be better. The gameplay is fun and challenging, and my only beef is that you can't save whenever you want - it's a checkpoint save, and I hate that. I know it's a holdover from the console version, but I'd rather see that changed in the (hopefully) inevitable sequels.

The only other criticism I can think of is that it was over too soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Action Adventure Game for Your Money, May 11 2010

This game is one of the best action adventure games I've played in years. It's definitely the best Batman and probably superhero themed games ever released. Great plot line with interesting settings. The game requires some thoughts and it's not those beat'em ups or mindless run and gun games that you see now-a-days. I see that there's a reviewer that was frustrated with precision controls, but the fact is, this game was never meant to require precision controls like first person shooting games like Counterstrike or Battlefield: Bad Company 2. This game is great for those people who just wants to be Batman and live through his adventures.

I finished the campaign with my trusty XBOX 360 Controller for PC but I've also played the game using the traditional keyboard and mouse schemes. Since the game was originally written for consoles, I of course stuck with the control schemes the designers originally had in mind, and it works great. I would also give kudos to the team for having quite control translation to the traditional keyboard and mouse layout. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like button mashing my keyboard to the point it feels like my keyboard's going to fall apart nor do I feel like killing my mouse, so I stuck to mainly the controller.

If you've been looking for an excellent action adventure game, look no further than this game. Personally, I'm not into comics at all and my exposure to Batman is through the movies and this game. The only reason why I bought this game was because of all the praise it received and I didn't feel like getting another shooter game.

This is a great game, but there are certain boss fights that will have you wanting hit the uninstall button. The game's graphics are great, the atmosphere is excellent and for the most part it's a lot of fun. But the lack of responsiveness in this video game to pc port won't become glaring until you really need it. It's at this time when you're face to face with the likes of Bane and your double spacebar tap + directional dodge won't register. It's these unforgiving battles that turn the fun into frustration. If you have a video game system, do yourself a HUGE favor and purchase that version. If you're a PC gamer, good luck... you might find yourself playing only 10% to 20% of the content before you abandon the game completely.
