4.0 out of 5 stars A good game
A solid game that is part of a good franchise. Story is good but I wish it was a bit longer.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's more of the same thing, really...
I base my review on the +6 hours I played this game over the weekend.

This is yet another PS3 game that people should seriously consider renting first, and then decide whether to purchase it. Here's why I didn't like Bioshock 2: it offers very little in terms of new material and content than Bioshock 1 had to offer:

- Same or similar plasmids as in...

Great game. Really. But its just like Bioshock 1. Same places, same things to do. I'm a big fan of Bioshock, so it didn't bother me. It was a lot of fun to go back to Rapture. I just think people should know before they buy Bioshock 2. Must buy for every bioshck fan. Don't touch for anyone who didn't liked the first one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bioshock is Amazing, Mar 19 2012
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

It is a pretty amazing game, I havent played the first part yet, so I can't compare it with the first part, but stand alone its a pretty fun title. I havent completed the game (at the time of writing this) but I feel it would be much better to play this game in sequence.

The game play is fun, but a word of advice. SAVE every 15 minutes, the game froze and I lost 3 hours of progress.

The game is weird, and creepy, but exploring is fun. I play this game sometimes for hours, and it feels like 10 minutes

2K hasn't reinvented the wheel with BioShock -- the environment is identical, the moral choices and story outcomes similar to the first game, and the gameplay a touch more streamlined. But the engine and the graphics of the first game were such a delirious treat, why not consider this a subdivision of Rapture, and enjoy it for that? Until the third game arrives, this remains a very pleasant (and affordable) diversion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy game full of crazies, Feb 20 2010

The original classic Bioshock is unbeatable and unrepeatable, but this sequel is rock solid and as good as it gets. I don't want to hear that the game offers nothing new, I was very happy to go back to Rapture and save some little sisters. Few games have this kind of eccentricity, perhaps Silent Hill. The sequel does not have the plumbing mini-game that I loved so much and like the original game with the silly boss battle ending, the ending was the weak point of the new game for me. It was just way too long doing silly tasks. But this is Bioshock again and if you are a fan you don't need to be told.

4.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric... play it in the dark!, Nov 18 2010

I have to admit, when I first got this game, it was a little weird. I read other reviews that said it was fantastic, but really knew nothing about the game itself. I popped this game in and luckily, I was playing at night, in the dark, with my home theatre surround sound on. It really did provide for a very atmospheric and creepy adventure. It does get a little repetitive just blasting splicers, but there are enough variety in splicers to make it entertaining. I find it very useful that there is an arrow that helps guide you to different parts of the game.

Overall, I enjoyed this one. I had a friend over while I played it, and even she was getting a little scared. :)

- Same or similar plasmids as in Bioshock 1 - electrokinesis, incirenate, telekinesis;
- Same or similar leadhead splicers;
- Same upgrade system for the weapons;
- Similar upgrade system for plasmids;
- Same vending machine units for weapons, aid, etc.;
- Same or similar security bots;
- Same map system (tap 'select' button);
- Similar surroundings, yes you're back in Rapture, alright;

If you say, so what?, consider the difference between Unchartered 1 and Unchartered 2: the game missions, surroundings, foes, weapons and boss fights were as different as night and day.

The same, unfortunately, cannot be concluded about Bioshock 2. You're not playing a new chapter in Rapture, rather re-playing the same game, with some variations.
