I love this GPS.No lockup issues. Large bright screen. Excellent volume level. (At 100% it does resonate but keep it a 90% and it sounds great) Bluetooth works flawlessly. Maps and Software updated without any issues. Free traffic updates. The traffic antenna is integrated into the power cable. It is a little bulky but it's better than having two wires.

All the bluetooth and stability have been fixed in the latest software update (at least for me)no lock, no lost satellite, no bluetooh issue The report from 2009 and 2010 are probably stale now.

This is the third 1490T I have purchased as I really like all the features, HOWEVER, it does not have reliable satellite reception. Sometimes I get full reception in 3 seconds and more often it takes 30 minutes or more and then "LOST SATELLITE RECEPTION". The unit is really useless!!If you cannot get reliable satellite reception, all the great features are also worthless. Very disappointed with Garmin as I have owned about 6 different automotive GPS's from Garmin. My last exchange with Raytech was a waste of time and I got a "refurbished unit". All Garmin wants to do is send it in for repair. This does NOT solve the problem. This unit has an inherent problem with reception and Garmin are not able to fix it! Since I purchased it in Phoenix at COSTCO, they took it back here in Canada without question. Great customer support from Costco!! Garmin, you just lost a lifetime customer!

Garmin Nuvi 1490T >>> Not worth the money,
This review is from: Garmin nüvi 1490/1490T 5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Electronics)
This Garmin unit is one of the most expensive units and it does not perform consistantly. The unit freezes/ crashes as you are driving. The hands free is not reliable. The speaker vibrates so much that the voice is difficult to understand when using the bluetooth phone link. Also map updates don't work properly by downloading, with this unit. You are better off with a unit of $150.00 rather than this unit which goes for over $500.00. Also this unit doesn't even come with a carrying case? THe car adapter wire is bulky & has a antenna module at 6 inches from the devices connection , which makes the cable hard to fish through the dash and you must have 12 inches of wire showing over the dash due to the antenna device...very unsigthly!! |
