If you liked Season One, you'll LOVE Season Two!,

Another awesome - but faster and crazier - roller coaster ride of pure escapism for TB fans: intrigue, gore, sex, and loads of dark humor. These characters are so well written, you can't help but be interested in every one of them - no matter how minor. Loved the way each episode ending left us hungry for more. Cannot wait for Season Three!

A vampire series with lots of bite,

The second season of True Blood delivers all the thrills, twists and plot turns that made the first season so great. More drama, more action and more engaging characters in supernaturally gripping scenarios. Bring on season 3!

huge improvement over season 1,

seeing as I wasn't the biggest fan of Season 1, its nice to see that Season 2 started and finished strong.Picking up from Season 1's cliffhanger ending, season 2 jumps right into a new story which i won't spoil. Once again though, just as in season 1, something goes wrong mid season. Whereas in season 1 it was a "demon within" story between 2 side characters that was a pointless diversion, in season 2 the biggest problem is that it just takes so damn long to explain why the "evil" character is in fact...evil. The biggest improvement for a character as far as I was concerned was Sookie's brother. Given his own side story he was truly given his chance to shine and no longer had to resort to having sex on each episode to be relevant. Potential viewers should note that there is an increased amount of nudity in this season so if thats not your thing stay away.

Season 2 - fast-forward to the good scenes,
By
This review is from: True Blood: The Complete Second Season [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
After watching Season 2, and especially the Maryann storyline, I was left wondering "where the heck did that come from?" I kind of got after the first few orgy scenes that Maryann wasn't what she seemed -- no need to hit me over the head with it. I don't consider myself a prude, but when the Maryann storyline descended into the realm of the ridiculous, I got awfully bored and started wondering how the actors could put up with such uninspired scripting. One of the bright spots in Season 2 is the development of the Eric Northman character and his relationship with Sookie, and in the end I found myself fast-forwarding through the mindless orgy and party scenes to the Dallas storyline. Since the Sookie Stackhouse novels themselves are written from a first-person perspective, I can understand the temptation of the TrueBlood writers to "flesh out" some of the other characters' activities, and even to create new characters/storylines that did not exist in the novels. However, Season 2 did so at the expense of the novels' core plot/character development and as a result lost a lot of the magic that was present in Season 1.

Attention to detail,
By
This review is from: True Blood: The Complete Second Season (DVD)
I think the key element to this brilliant series is attention to detail. Alan Ball, his staff as well as the brilliant actors not only create a world that is entirely believable but also go to great lengths to capture the internal conflict and emotions each character is going through. This season was all about coming of age. From Jessica discovering her new "body" and lifestyle to the powerful influence Maryann has on Bon temps and the people in it; each episode leads you to a climactic finally that leaves the viewer wanting more.As someone who has followed the series first, I am now reading the books by the orginal creator Charlaine Harris. It is safe to say that the television series & the book are closely related. What I love the most is that both Charlaine Harris and Alan Ball have remained true to the vampire mythology. For instance, when vampires are exposed to the sun, they burn and eventually evaporate unlike another series (Twilight) which alter that they glow. Check out Season 3 premiering June 13th on HBO & HBO Canada.

True Blood Season 2,
This review is from: True Blood: The Complete Second Season (DVD)
This season - not as great as the first but still well done! If you have read the books the stray quite far from the plot of the books in this series. The whole "Maryanne" part is a little odd and I didn't enjoy it all that much. Just ordered the third season as general concensus is that the third season is awesome with the introduction of the Were's. Still very well done and interesting and definitely not for kids!

I had heard that this was a good series. and it is. I must admit I loved buffy so this series still comes a distant second. but it is fun. it doesn't take itself too seriously. the characters are interesting and you do begin to care about them. good way to spend a couple of hours in front of the tv.
