4.0 out of 5 stars Horrific, Intelligent and Incredible
Torchwood had trouble carving out its own niche after becoming a major Doctor Who spinoff. After all, it's hard to build a reputation after branching out from a series that has been around since the 1960s. Seasons (or make that Series for you U.K.'ers) 1 and 2 followed the same serialized structure as Doctor Who, and followed the exploits of the immortal Captain Jack...

1.0 out of 5 stars Where is Torchwood?
After watch this 5 extrordinary hours, I leave with a bad taste. Firstly you forget someone who should be name and the name is Gareth David-Lloyd because not him, the show would be more boring. Secondly, the show not talk about Torchwood but a government who deal with an alien. That was absolutely no meaning with the two others series. I give one star because I don't see...

5.0 out of 5 stars Five hours without pause, Aug. 15 2009

This is one of those stories that just runs well. After watching it twice, I still marvel at the fact that both times we ended up watching straight through without a break. The characters and plot are compelling and drive the story. While the ending is a bit Deus Ex Machina, this is de rigeur for Torchwood. Fans of Russell Davies's other creations will perhaps miss the gratuitous sexuality which would be out of place in this setting.

The characters remain unresolved and complex - like life - think "remains of the day" but in a sexy stylish Welsh sort-of-way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling and fast paced, Aug. 23 2010
The best season on Torchwood, Reminds me of 24 series, fast paced with new ideas, i love it and cannot wait to see new Torchwood series coming as joint production of BBC and US. If you like action suspense and science fiction , this is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Torchwood has reached a dark side, March 6 2010
Firstly, one needs to have seen the series 1 & 2 prior to Children of Earth to follow the character development. While the story line was good, it does make us look at how well we as a people are controlled. But the series brought out a darker side to Jack and more depth to the other main people.

Basically, it held one to the screen and looking forward to the next series.

I give one star because I don't see the interest to buy the dvd. It's a season you watch just once because when you see the end, there is absolutely no happy ending in that. It's the government and an alien who destroy Torchwood. Of course, the Torchwood is show like complete idiots and stupid. The moral: Torchwood is ready but not to help the world. They are ready to be pathetic. There is only one character who have a happy ending and I don't name who. We leave with no team and no Torchwood. The COE is the end of Torchwood. The world and the parent of children is show too like complete idiots. Leave me to just one question: What is the moral of COE? The government is evil, the Torchwood team is idiot or we have one character who is invincible and I don't name because of the spoiler. French speaker
