I had played Halo 1 and 2 back in the 2003-2004 era and then had left gaming only to return this year with an Xbox 360. So I picked up Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST. I have always heard that ODST is not a good game or it's not in keeping with Halo tradition. But I was still curious.

My curiosity was rewarded.

In normal Master Chief Halos, you always feel in charge...you are like a tank and you engage in epic battles and usually always make it out with barely a scratch. But this one is more emotional, more connected,...harder...more harrowing. You take command of a characters who are mere soldiers doing their best to fight the war. Often you will pull back from a battle because you simply can't fight them or you want to change tactics. This is a thinking-man's Halo. You FEEL the Covenant, you FEEL the story.

Don't listen to others. Play this game. Let yourself judge it. I assure you you will feel an emotional attachment to it like no other Halo. It has a soul. It makes you work hard and peek around corner wondering if you have ammo or where you will possibly find some health or help.

Amazing and hoping for another ODST.

i really can't see why everyone is complaining about how short the campaign is, because really, u can't judge a halo game solely on it's campaign. i bought an xbox 360 and halo 3 on launch day, and finished the campaign with my 3 friends in about 8 hours. then we replayed the campaign. then we played multiplayer. then we played more multiplayer. then we played xbox live, and so on :P i think all in all ive invested over 100 hours on halo 3, a game which critics say only lasts about 10 hours. halo 3 odst is much of the same. Although the campaign is shorter then it's predecessor, i thought it's design was much better executed and the outcome was amazing. Basically, your the rookie, a nameless Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, and after a crash landing on the city of New Mombasa, you struggle to remain alive while looking for clues as to where the rest of your team is. I won't go into the story to much as to not spoil it for you, but i can say it's one of my all time favorites.
GRAPHICS
the graphics remain much of the same as what you saw in halo 3. The graphics engine isn't as amazing as it was a couple years ago, but it still makes for a stunning experience.
GAMEPLAY
Again, pretty much the same as halo 3, but this time you aren't big old master chief running around with an assault rifle killing everything. You still have overshields, or what is now called energy, but when those shields are depleted your health (which is now in the top center of the hud) starts to go down, and you can only get it back up by finding healing things. You can expect a fast-paced quick thinking FPS.
MULTIPLAYER (firefight)
My favorite aspect of the game. If you've ever, and i'm sure you have, played a round of horde in GOW or nazi zombies in COD, this is basically the halo version of it. Round after round, you have to kill a bunch of baddies to get to the next round. Put that way, it doesn't sound that fun. But when brutes are fireing brute shots at you, grunts are needeling you, and short sniper dudes are sniping you, and your team has only 1 life left, it gets pretttty intense and fun.

I would recommend this game to anyone with xbox live, anyone who has already played halo at a friends house, or any halo fanatic (though i'm sure all the fanatics have already bought it :P) but maybe if you've never played a halo game, and are not sure about buying it, because of the steep price, rent it first

Get your trigger finger ready!

An excellent campaign that fits well into the Halo universe. Halo fans will certainly not be disappointed while playing the campaign single-player. I played it through once on Legendary, and the sense of vulnerability that playing as an ODST adds to the game-play makes combat feel more intense and meaningful.

Firefight, is an enjoyable multiplayer co-op experience that builds off of the Survival mode in Left 4 Dead and Horde in Gears of War, but differentiates itself from these previous games enough to feel fresh and engaging.

The addition of three new Halo 3 MP maps, and the Mythic disk, is another nice perk. Halo fans will not want to miss out on these maps, and the option for reclaiming hard-drive space that the Mythic disc provides.

Halo Reach MP Beta, should be fantastic, but is a real unknown at this point. However, I will be keeping my copy of ODST to experience Bungie's latest creation next year first hand.

First time I played it I hated it then the second time I just loved it I have played this game probably 5-6 tomes now. It took a while for me to see why that they changed the game from all previous Halo's. I hope Halo Reach is going to be as good or even close, because, then it will be great also.
