This review is from: Sherlock Holmes Triple Feature: The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959)/The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes/Without A Clue (DVD)
You get three, very different, rendition of the fame detective. A slick "polar", a comedy and one in the pure "Hammer production" style.......

"Life of SH" is silky smooth with some rich text and acting. The intrigue will take you for a ride, no matter how good you are at guessing "endings". Somewhat Shakespearian and sometime Seinfeldesqu, the dialoques are divine. With Michael Caine is the lead, "Clue" is more comical and burlesque. Fast-paced and less subtle, it will please viewers that want a simple good time, without having to watch cheap humor stuff. "Hound" is classic Hammer production movie. Cushing and Lee are reunited once more, in this hellish version of SH. Sparkled with horrific effects, The Hammer version of SH is casting Peter Cushing in the lead role. He always casted in cerebral roles and his acting stays close to what he did as Frankenstein or Van Helsing. In that regard the movie is a bit disappointing.... But the ensemble remains quite entertaining.

At this bargain price, it is preferable to get this multi-disk package rather than buying the 3 movies seperatly. You may not LOVE all three films, but you will LIKE them all.
