The Mary Tyler Moore show is still revered by numerous television critics as being one of the best sitcoms ever to be produced in North America.

Season six was considered to be amongst its best years.
This is the season that brought us what many deem as being the best comedic episode ever produced - "Chuckles Bites the Dust".

This is also the season in which Rhoda's ex-co-worker and friend, Georgette, finally gets married to Ted Baxter.

Season six received numerous accolades from the television industry.
In 1976, The Mary Tyler Moore show was awarded Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead actress in a Comedy Series - Mary Tyler Moore, Outstanding Supporting Actor - Ted Knight, Outstanding supporting Comedy Actress - Betty White as well as Outstanding Comedy writing for "Chukles Bites the Dust".

Valerie Harper does make a brief cameo appearance with her TV hubby Jo, during an episode but unfortunately the character of Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) is now officially gone from the cast.

All in all this is probably the best season from a hilarious CBS sitcom.

Very worth adding to your home DVD library.

I adore this show - so wonderful to have the entire box set. The discs have funny or interesting commentary and extra info in each season's disc. The show is hilarious and characters so likeable. Great buy!

The first episode starts with my ultimate favourite Murray dig towards Sue Ann. And of course she comes back strong with a comment about his baldness. Phyllis and Rhoda's departure leaves Mary lonely and in a rut. After going blond very briefly she decides to move to another apartment, where yes, she has her own bedroom! Other episodes include Lou's ex-wife Edie remarrying, Mary thinks she's influenced a father to leave the priesthood, Murray's in love with a special someone and Ted auditions to be the host of a new gameshow, just to name a few. There are many more funny episodes with the usual WJM-TV magic. Although, I will say it again I really miss Rhoda/Valerie Harper on the show regularly!! Mary and Rhoda were such great friends whose personalities complimented each other.

Season 6 includes the emmy winning episode, "Chuckles Bites the Dust," which has been referenced on a number of other television shows. This episode is well remembered! My only question is: where was Chuckle's daughter, Betty Bowerchuck, whom Ted dated in season 2? Could the writers not fit her appearance in, without destroying the sentiment of the episode??

Beginning with season 5 and continuing with season 6, the DVD case has gone cheaper, like many other shows have, in order to save money. Now when you purchase the DVD there are high odds the case will be broken. Meaning the flimsy plastic piece in the centre that holds the discs will break easily with any impact. My copy came broken, but since the discs played fine, I chose not to send it back and ask for a replacement. I unfortunately will not likely be ordering season 7 on amazon, due to the fact I want to avoid this next time. I understand this is not amazon's fault in any way! It is just easier for me to go to my local movie store to return a broken DVD case.

One definite improvement from season 5 to 6, is the episode titles are written on the inside of the DVD case. Season 5 there was nothing and I definitely prefer to have some sort of guide to finding a specific episode. When all is said and done, Mary Tyler Moore is a fabulous show, that is always worthwhile to purchase on DVD!!

The shows and video quality are excellent. The one annoying fault I found was navigating thru the menu and getting to each show. There were too many steps compare to all other DVD videos I have.
But that aside,I still highly recommend purchasing,as MTM had one of the best comedies of the 1970's

The season containing one of the funniest and most memorable episodes of this series, "Chuckles Bites the Dust".
The Mary Tyler Moore Show is still funny and entertaining even all these years later, and the cast was perfect for each of their roles. I recommend this series from the first season to the last. It just got better every year.

I am a big fan and have bought all the seasons released to date. I was thrilled to finally see "Chuckles bites the dust" which is one of the highest rated comedy programs of all time. Mary and the gang don't fail to entertain in the sixth season. If you like Mary Tyler Moore show, you should buy this collection.
