3.0 out of 5 stars An average web cam... does the trick.
Nothing special here. This cam does the job. Horrible in low light (bounces in and out of focus, which is more aggravating then just being out of focus!) Good video in light, and great audio. Good at its price point.

First and foremost, this cam is everything it's cracked up to be. And yes your computer needs to be pretty beefy if you want to crank up the resolution and still take advantage of it's HD awesomeness.

What is there to say? The webcam is everything the description promises. It's easy to setup, works well with Live messenger (Although better with Skype), and the built-in mic is fantastic.

The only slight downside is that it won't let you use all the fancy FX with anything other than MSN and it's native program, which is fine by me. Who wants bunny ears anyway?

So for those of your who vid-blog or do other things on cam for money, you CANNOT go wrong with this one. You may want a better graphics card/GPU for the absolute best performance, but it's not necessary.

4.0 out of 5 stars HD quality web cams, May 4 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This model is a good quality web camera, but like similar reviews has a problems at times focusing properly,
but easily disabled if the lighting is not ideal in your situation. Requires a reasonably fast computer,
as it uses a lot of resources to operate. Works great with Skype / Live Messenger, as the microphone is
quite sensitive.

5.0 out of 5 stars great 720p camera, Nov. 15 2010

The camera is great, 1280x720/30fps recording with automatic focusing. The automatic focus annoys when you have a lot of head movement (the camera will try to adjust focus adaptively) but it is not a problem for regular person. But keep in mind in order to use 720p/30fps video chatting, you need a upload bandwidth greater than 1.6 Mbps (200 kBps). My internet subscribe only gives a 800 kbps uploading speed which is barely enough for 640x480/30fps resolution.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment, July 21 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000 Webcam (Black) (Personal Computers)
Everything was fine with the sale, the problem is the item itself, would constantly disconnect, or freeze, wouldnt be able to record more than 2 minutes without having it randomly stop. If I moved it a quarter of a milimeter it would disconnect. Couldnt take it in my hands, would disconnect. Just a bad camera in general I would rather go with logitech.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good image quality. Annoying autofocus, Oct. 21 2010
This review is from: Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000 Webcam (Black) (Personal Computers)
Image quality of this camera is great. Also has a very versatile mount which is easy to attach to LCD's or laptop. Big down side for me was the autofocus, which has a tendency to hunt and seek whenever something moves in the frame. i.e. camera focuses in and out every 10 seconds or so if there is a lot movement. Enough of an annoyance that people comment on it when video conferencing with them. Would probably not buy again.

Quick delivery as usual and the best price with free delivery. The camera is fantastic in HD. I only use it in Messenger so I just plugged the camera into the USB port and let Windows install the drivers for it. No need for the bloatware that comes with it to be installed.
