This little netbook is awesome!! Perfect for email or surfing anywhere in the house.
Liked it so much I bought one for my husband who takes it to work.
The hybrid engine is great on battery life. I have been using it for over 3 weeks and only charged it 4 times.
It certainly won't replace a desktop/laptop but for light duties and portability it can't be beaten.

I have had the Asus EEE Pc 1005PE PU17 for over a week now and I just love it. I was worried that the small right shift key was going to slow me down. My earlier Asus had the small shift key and I eventually resorted to typing with two fingers, but not with my new computer. The shift is in the perfect spot for my fingers. I can't believe the amount of run time I have been getting with this battery. I attended a weekend course recently, with the computer running on battery both days and a few hours Saturday evening, and I just couldn't kill the battery.

I bought a small Targus notebook cooler for my earlier Asus because it ran fairly hot, but I haven't needed it with this machine. It runs very cool.

I have seen some complaints written about the bumpy touchpad; well, I like it a lot. No complaints here. As well, I put two gigabytes of RAM in the machine and am very happy with its performance. I also bought the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook mouse and it has been performing well, though it took a bit of perseverance to get it set up. Everything is running well, now.

I also have to say how impressed I am with Amazon's service. I ordered my laptop and extra RAM early Good Friday morning, and the package arrived on Thursday. Very prompt.

Was very impressed with the speed, layout and look of the netbook. The only concern I have is the battery life. Asus claims its 14 hrs but haven't seen it yet. When I first got it I made sure I ran the battery right down and then charged it up overnight. Went to use it the next day and said it was fully charged but showed 9 hrs of battery life when its suppose to be 14 hrs. So I ran the netbook off battery until it was almost dead and charged it once again overnight. When I went to use it again yesterday, it says its fully charged but shows approx 9 hrs of battery life. Not sure where they get 14 from as this was a definite feature I was looking for. Other than that, everything else works fine.

I bought this laptop/netbook (whatever you want to call it) to bring to university everyday and not have to bring in a power adapter. The battery has never died on me. It really does last about 10 hours while using it fully.
The only drawback, which is not a problem at all for me, is that the pc does run a little slow. Processing time is a little weak I would say.

For anyone who travels a lot to work or school, (or whose backpack or briefcase is too heavy), this is a great laptop. I really only use my computer for word processing, checking my email, and occasionally watching youtube videos, and I find this netbook just as functional as any other computer. I am sure that it has limitations, but I have not found any. It connects to the internet extremely quickly, even when running the operating system - the quick access button is even faster. Its small size and weight (and excellent battery life) allow me to work on the bus on my commute, and I once used it on battery power for two days in a row (although not constantly) after having forgotten my power cord. To summarize, I really like it and highly recommend it.

I just used this netbook for a 30 day trip to Europe and I got a lot of use out of it. The battery life is fantastic; with a normal amount of use I was easily able to go several days without charging it. My main complaint is that it is really, really slow by today's standards, though you should probably expect that based on its specs.

The multitouch on the touchpad also gets very annoying. The computer is so slow that I often make several discrete movements on the touchpad and they will be interpreted as happening all at once. This is then considered to be "multitouch" and instead of simply moving the cursor around the screen the computer will be straining to do a series of zooms (in and out) and scrolls (up, down, left, right). VERY annoying, and it happens all the time.

If you need a cheap computer with great battery life, it will do the job, but don't plan on using this as your primary computer.
