5.0 out of 5 stars More "produced" sound, but still K'naan!, Feb 26 2009
This review is from: Troubadour (Audio CD)
K'naan's new album Troubadour features an arguably more "polished", or "produced" sound, but that is not to say it loses any of what makes it a terrific album that is still K'naan to the core. He retains his unique sound of hip-hip laced with African beats, this time featuring some "big names" in music courtesy of Damian Marley, Mos Def, Kirk Hammett and Adam Levine. K'naan is a poet, musician, survivor and above all, a storyteller. You can savour the melodies of these songs while embracing the vivid and poetic images he paints with his lyrics.

K'naan plays a phenomenal live set if you ever get to check him out, consider yourself lucky. It's a moving experience to say the least!

Pick up this album to support quality Canadian music. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Generous Music, Aug 7 2009

i loved K'naan's first album, and i love this too. Not only is the music excellent, ranging all over the shop: rock, rap, even straight up disco (he pulls it off); the lyrics open up a world, the life of a Somalian who has moved to North America. He is a troubadour bringing his songs of life in places we will never get to, but you could buy this just for the beats if that is what you seek.

4.0 out of 5 stars Music for all ages, April 5 2010

I'm not part of the traditional rap generation, but I just love this CD. Having worked in Africa I can really appreciate how far he has come and I admire his creativity, tenacity and talent.

4.0 out of 5 stars American marketing..., July 27 2009

Not as revealing and powerful as Dusty Foot Philosopher. I especially disliked the new version of 'If Rap Gets Jealous' and the obvious production alluded to by another reviewer. Nevertheless, ABCs, I Come Prepared and Wavin' Flag are solid tracks and as a whole this is definitely a good album.

If you liked his first album, you'll LOVE this one!! Every track is full of unprecedented awesomeness. I've basically listened to this on an endless loop since I got it and I don't normally do that!

Fave tracks: Bang Bang, TIA, Fatima
