Three Kingdoms on many levels is satisfactory with moments of grandeur, but overall, an uneven film. The action is too technically stylized, which is unfortunately more distracting than engaging. Though there is a lot of slow motion, swish panning, shaky hand-held and quick edits, the great battle and individual fight scenes are too reduced and could have been stronger. (Had the camera instead held steady for a few moments, this film could have been more epic in scope.) Conversely, the straightforward dialogue scenes could have used more technique. As bonus material, the dvd also includes interviews with the three leads and director. Though it could have been better, the film is still enjoyable.
