Final Fantasy Collection,

I am happy with this - seems like a fair price. Final Fantasy XIII - seems like an okay game - have not got into all that much yet - it is surprisingly linear though. The 399 price is the same as the 399 US price on Amazon.com - so Canadians arenot getting gouged especially considering the dollar being near par right now. This package seems well worth the extra $100 compared to the Elite version. FFXIII ($59.83), and an extra controller ($39.99) are included, and double the HDD space (250GB $49.99 value). The double HDD space is basically a free bonus. There are some talking about this bundle, saying that it is not worth it because the console has no special design. That is not a big deal at all to me personally. You have to look at the overall value you get with this bundle. The console itself has the Jasper chipset built-in (nice to know your Xbox does not sound like a jet-engine), the hard drive is the largest available (250GB) with a custom Final Fantasy XIII engraving. I pre-ordered mine and got the free faceplate - so that is always a nice added bonus - faceplate is selling right now for 62.50 while the game is 59.83 - figure that one out. For me I chose this - because I wanted to play final fantasy XIII - but did not own an Xbox on Ps3. I chose this because I do not need blue-ray - and lately Microsoft track record has been better than Sony. I owned 3 ps2 and they all just stopped working - so I chose this - hopefully I do not regret it. What you get: - The game - Console with 250gig HDD - 2 wireless controllers - with batteries (nice added change) - 1 Headset - ie voice messages and in game play (I have no need for it personally) - Xbox live - Free netflix trial (US only). - Free ridiculously expensive faceplate (on pre-order) - Final Fantasy XIII - gift card - to get free nifty FF13 avatars It should be noted that this is the only console coming to Canada / USA to include Final Fantasy - so do not expect to see a PS3 FFVIII bundle ever. Pros - you get the game which has favourable reviews so far - 250 gig HDD - largest available (6 gigs is reserved for the console so it is really 244 but that is still a lot) - Jasper chipset - value is good - free faceplate Cons - No HD or HDMI cables - there is an HDMI port though. - No Xbox live gold trial All and All - I am happy with this purchase so far.

307 dollars is a great deal considering you get the super elite that is 399 and the regular elite is 299. IN this package not only do you get a 250 gig harddrive vs a 120 gig harddrive you get an two controllers vs one in the other sets and both come with regarable batteries right out of the box. Also included is the final fantasy game, and to if you dont like that game you could always trade it in. I traded mine in to future shop and got a forty dollar gift card that I used to preorder lost planet 2 so its a great deal. only seven dollars more than elite and almost 100 dollars less than super elite and you get more than both. And for anyone about to ask about the game trade in I spoke of the game is in retail packaging, its not in a not for resale case so it can be traded in unlike some games in other xbox sets. There is another review raving about the ps3 but come on, up until recently it was overpriced, The exclusives are all it has which is all I buy for my ps3 liek uncharted ... thats pretty much it for me because I could care less for god of war its basically god of war 2 with slightly better graphics, and all the games common to each system look the same or better on 360. you dont believe it then [...] they have comparisons for most games and you will see that this is true. LOL as for the other guy complaining about finatl fantasy haveing three discs, this is the only game so far and the only type of game that should have multiple discs. To be honest though the game is a 40 to 50 hour long game if you just play through it to pass it, upt to 200 hours if you attempt to complete it in its entiretly including side quests so really is it such a hassle if you have to switch to a differnt disc every 25 hours? In my opinion the ps3 is just a dust collector. And as for the xbox live, yeah you have to pay 6 dollars a month or 60 a year but the service is unmatchable, xbox live has consistency with everygame in game chat with friends as well as cross game and dash chat so you can stay talking to you friends no matter what you are doing. the ps3 is free but it shows if you play games frequently you will soon learn that the online capabilites and features of the ps3 are lacking and sony knew if they charged for the service it would not be up to standards to compete with xbox.IN conclusion great system great price great value.

So I looked over this product and not really impressed, why would you spend extra money on something like this other than the fact that the hard drive is larger than the typical 360 add on. An interchangeable face plate isn't going to force someone to buy this hardware and the game is in fact not as great as it was hyped up to be. To be perfectly honest I'm not an xbox person, but when the game is on three discs I feel thats just not good enough for today standards. I'm not knocking the hardware or the company but really if thats going to be pulled that game should've just been cut from the production list to save us all time, and if you're really looking for something thats worth your while and is truly a special edition. Import the Japanese white & pink PS3, no interchangeable face plate, just pure final fantasy Lightning painted on. If you're complaining "but its made in Japan, it won't play my games". Stop whining PS3's are mostly region free so our games work on their systems and vice versa. So please if YOU read this please just don't bother with this for more than memory expansion, it really is a waste of good money.

Not Wireless like other xbox 360 systems,

Just a quick warning for potential buyers. I purchased this and ended up returning it and buying the regular black console after discovering this special edition set does NOT have wireless internet capabilities which the regular system that is out now has.So if you don't have your TV in the same room as your modem and want to use Xbox live or any of the online features this may not be as great of a deal as it seems. The extra wireless remote was the reason I picked this set out first. But for the price of the wireless adapter I can easily buy 2 extra controllers. Especially since right now the standard black system comes with 2 (different) games and a trial subscription to Xbox live Gold. :) Other than that the system works great. |
