Private and courtroom drama in spades!
on October 19, 2015
This series is the second American- produced series that I have purchased as I tend to stick to British productions. It was recommended to me by my stepdaughter. My husband and I watch it together and find it to be very well-acted. The plots are generally good although sometimes we feel there is too much going on in the one episode . This over-dramatisation is not realistic. Too much going can stress or bore the spectator depending. Some of the court cases are very interesting. If this is how the justice system works in the USA, the average American needs help! The stories of the main characters can also sometimes be too dramatic and complicated and thereby distract from the legal cases which are probably the best part of the series. The main actress Julianna Margulies who plays the Good Wife is not the most inspiring actress- she often seems spaced out. The other actors are very good. Some of the dialogue is very appropriate and witty.
If one is to compare this series with the UK ones such as Kavanagh QC, Rumpole of the Bailey, Garrow's Law, Silk, I would say that because it is too involved in too many plots at once it is not as effective as these older but more focussed and tightly-knitted stories.
If one is looking for entertainment and drama as well as the legal side of life then this series will satisfy.
