Good GPS watch, doesn't like water,
By
This review is from: Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS-Enabled Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (Red) (Electronics)
The Forerunner 110 is a good GPS watch in a complete self-contained package. GPS reception is very good and it locks on the satellite relatively quickly. It however does not have many features, but what is important - distance and lap speed, is there (plus time and heart rate of course). No instant speed though, no intervals or training zones. Meant to be simple which is not necessarily bad. The watch is also very small for a GPS watch, even for smaller wrists. The two major drawbacks are as follows: the clip used to recharge it and connect it to the computer is rather difficult to align properly. This is a really annoying as you have to do this a couple times a week. Too bad Garmin didn't take time to design this properly. The other caution is that you have to keep this watch away from water. I nearly killed mine in a shower after a trail race (even though I was careful not to put it in the water's path too much): water leaked in, and since then the watch won't hold its charge for more than a day or two. Combine this with the bad clip design, and you end up with an unhappy customer... But if you never get rained on, it's still a good watch that really works (while it works...).

I love this watch!,

I'm a technological barbarian. If it doesn't work, poke it, prod it, or hit it. This is the watch for me! Homer Simpson could use this watch! Just open the package, figure out how to charge it(via the nifty little electrodes on the back of the watch), and follow the instructions that appear on on-screen. Its energy saver mode is a nice, big readout of the time and date, not a lot of information but very large and easy to see.Once you use it with the heart rate monitor, and hook it up to your computer, more really cool stuff happens:) Granted, you have to create an account with Garmin Connect, but once you've done that, the amount of information at your fingertips, and the ease of interpretation is Awesome! I've used the watch for two runs now, and I'm in love. I hope everybody else enjoys exercising with theirs!

J'aime beaucoup.

Mostly Works, Until the Strap Breaks; Limited Support For Canadians,
By
This review is from: Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS-Enabled Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (Red) (Electronics)
I've had the watch for 13 months, 1 month out of warranty. Over the last year, it's worked well. My two complaints are that it can be quite slow to pick up satellites, and that the connector to the watch (an alligator clip with metal pins) is weird and takes fiddling to get to work. But the watch itself works well, it's accurate and simple, and has good battery life. All in all, I would give it a 4 star rating, but there is a serious flaw: the strap. The strap is molded onto the watch - it can't be replaced when it breaks. And from what I've read, it breaks a lot. It broke on my watch 13 months after I bought it, 1 month after the warranty expired. Why would you make an expensive watch that is rendered useless by a broken strap? I tried to go to the Garmin website to get support, but when you register for their support site, they tell you that they only support the US, not International customers. Really? How long have you been selling products here, and you don't offer support? Terrible. I'm not very happy with my Garmin experience, and would probably look to a different company for a replacement...

I purchased this watch in Dec. 2011 and had to replace it in May 2012 and again it is dead! this Garmin works only for 6 months and then it stops dead. If you do not want to lose that much money never buy this watch!
