Unique view of the USA,

Stephen Fry has always been one of my favorite comedic performers via Fry and Laurie shows and his role of Jeeves. Upon purchasing the book of his tour of America, I longed for the USA release of the DVD. I was not disappointed. Fry adds a self-deprecating and pucking tone to his his visit to all 50 USA states. From his view of urban decay in several cities to his encounters with more rural citizens to his harrowing trips down into coal mines and up in hot air balloons, Fry never demeans his hosts but warily views some of their views and habits with a jaundiced eye. Guest stars like Sting, Yed Turner and Morgan Freeman add to the fun. The book gives you so much more but the DVDs illustrate a fascinating trip. Highly recommended.
