Great little transmitter
on October 3, 2010
I've been hunting for an FM transmitter for my ipod touch (2nd gen) for a while. Most I encountered were either too expensive, too bulky, too ugly, or had horrible reviews. I purchased this one after seeing it's simplicity and form factor ... and it's low low price. This thing is TINY. The minimalist two-button face looks great and the blue frequency screen is a nice touch (the screen does not stay on the whole time it is in use...which I like, and isn't distracting). It clips into the bottom ... and that's it. It's so easy to use it's almost stupid. Just punch your radio into the frequency shown and you are good to go (I have not had any problems with having to switch frequencies due to interference). The included charger also charges the ipod (the transmitter does not have a battery, it gets its power from the ipod). That said, the little thing hardly uses any power (a one hour car trip did not make a dent in the battery), and now I sometimes use it around the house or in the workshop.
I prefer this smaller design to the cradle-types you find at some retailers due to the limited space by the cigarette lighter. We just place the ipod in the cellphone 'shelf' that more and more vehicles seem to have in the dash.
I took off one star because the ipod's screen sometimes stays on for a strange amount of time if I have the power adapter plugged in. It doesn't do any harm, but is a bit distracting when driving at night.
I FULLY recommend this product.
