Back in full force!!!,

Blind Guardian are back with a brand new album entitled "At the Edge of Time". After only 1 listen to this CD, long time BG fans will rejoice in hearing that the band as returned to their roots so-to-speak. Speed & Thrash elements are more present on this CD which will echo in the mind of the fans with memories of "Somewhere Far Beyond" & "Imaginations from the Other Side". Beginning the album with a 9 minute plus track in "Sacred Worlds", Blind Guardian sounds like they have no interest in taking prisoners. Fast, aggressive & to the point, all the element to make a great Blind Guardian album are on this release. Medieval themes, fantasy lyrics, it's all there. For all of those who were a bit disillusioned with "A Night at the Opera" or "A Twist in the Myth" will easily regain faith in Blind Guardian with "At the Edge of Time". Even for people who never really listen to this band before this album is a great place to start if you are interested in discovering what Blind Guardian is all about.

Amazing album, but Vinyl LP has horrible surface noise,
By acidbasement (Edmonton, AB) - See all my reviews
This review is from: At the Edge of Time (Vinyl) (LP Record)
As the title says, this album is amazingly written, performed, and recorded. Unfortunately, I had to figure this out by buying the CD after being completely disappointed with the sound quality of the 2LP set. The surface noise on the picture vinyl is unbearable while listening critically. The loud parts sound okay, if a bit muddy, but the quiet and orchestral parts sound as if there is a strong wind blowing behind all the music.Save your money and get one of the CD versions of this album. It is epic, dramatic, symphonic power metal at its best. The vinyl pressing, however, is the worst I've ever heard from any artist. |
