The two Miss Congeniality films, particularly the first, are the main prizes in this collection, with Two Weeks Notice being pretty good too. Overall, Sandra Bullock demonstrates her remarkable talents in a surprising variety of genres -- comedy, romance, action (even did her own stunts, when they'd let her), and drama.I'm surprised by the one U.S. reviewer who complained about two films locking up partway through, as I had no such problems with my copy. Possibly Amazon got them from different distributors? One of the funniest bits about both Miss Congeniality pix was the running gag of her character frequently tripping and stumbling over things, even funnier considering Sandra herself is quite skilled with stunts. And her glamor-makeover, from (deliberately?) mousy FBI agent to beauty queen, steals the show. Forewarning for the guys: Ya-Ya Sisterhood is definitely aimed at a female audience, so might prove somewhat less than gripping to males. I gave up on it after only the first 15 or 20 minutes, and my son afterward said "I could have told ya". But the other three should be fun for everyone, and well worth the modest price of the set. |
