This is JTE's best CD yet. Alt country, toe-tapping, hard to resist tunes. Harlem River: while the words are about a drowning oneself, somehow this manages to be an upbeat revival type song.... Does that make any sense? The tune sticks in your head..... Mr. Earle has certainly come of age on this CD. Not a bad tune in the bunch. I bought this one and Ryan Bingham's Junky Star, and while being a huge RB fan, I found myself wanting to play this CD more often! (& Junky Star is pretty damn good too!)

This third release by Justin Townes Earle showcases his talents the best. Great instrumentation and melodies, and some quirky story-telling too. JTE, like his dad, has a voice that is made for simple heartfelt lyrics. He's also got excellent timing and a broody tone that lends authenticity to his vocals. You can listen to the whole thing without reaching for the skip button and then start all over again. What a family.

A fantastic CD from beginning to end, not a single weak track. Eminently listenable and melodic, with strong lyrics and a really pleasant balance. Bears close listening, and is also excellent background music to your life. Buy it, enjoy it, share it.
