I bought this product for my boyfriend, and at first the back lit function for the keyboard did not work. We contacted Razer support and tried all of the steps they suggested to remedy the problem. In the end however, the product was defective and needed to be returned.

However we were both pleasantly surprised and impressed with how easy and efficient exchanging a defective product through Amazon turned out to be. They were very clear on directions, and returning the product was both easy and free. Within two days of applying for the exchange through Amazon we received a new keyboard in the mail that was fully functional.

For the product itself my boyfriend has this to say: "Firstly, coming from a laptop keyboard to a full size keyboard was very refreshing. The keys on this keyboard are very responsive, well spaced and have a really inviting smooth texture. The ability to assign specific colours to actions and events is both unique and helpful, especially in the context of StarCraft II."

The Razer Marauder Starcraft II keyboard is only one in a trio of amazing gaming peripherals by Razer. Not included in this review are the Razer Spectre mouse and the Razer Banshee headset. I own both the Spectre and Marauder. First of all, i should say that the Marauder (or any of the peripherals) don't only work with Starcraft. The only feature that is Starcraft II specific is the APM Lighting System. The keyboard has 48 different colours/shades (Including White which makes it look like steel, and Black which just turns it off) so there is no shortage of customization. In game, the peripherals will change colour depending on how many actions per minute you are putting out in-game. So if you're doing 0 Actions per Minute, it will stay whichever colour you have set to it.

So say you set Red to be 0 and Blue to be 50. It will stay Red until you reach 50APM, then will suddenly switch to Blue until your APM either goes to the next level or drops down below 50. (Keep in mind, the APM does not refer to your Average APM in match, just your APM at that very moment.)

The second feature is flashing a specific colour for things happening in game. For example i have it set to flash Red three times when my base is attacked, and other things like flashing Gold once when a mineral field is depleted. This is fully customizable (the colours and how many flashes) Out of game, you can also customize each section of the keyboard to glow a different colour (The three sections are Keys, Sidetrips and Underglow) and they will stay that colour until you begin a new game of Starcraft II, so no worries to those who hoped to have the glow without Starcraft!

The last thing i want to talk about is the hardware itself, all of the keys appear to have a thin rubber coating on top which make it extremely comfortable to type on. All under the keys glows, and the outline of the keys and the characters on top glow. There are also side strips that light up, and a bit of an underglow (which is really strips under the sides of the kyboard). Even without the other features, just the keyboard itself is amazing and extremely comfortable. The keyboard has a braided cord with gold-plated USB connections. To use it without lighting you only need to plug in one of the two USBs that branch off from it, the second allows you to use the lighting.

You can also customize what every single key on the keyboard does. You could make the letter M the spacebar, or the numbers 1, 2 and 3 turn into Ctrl, Alt and Delete respectively. Completely re programmable.

I personally have not yet used the Macro features on the keyboard, so i can't accurately talk about that.

The only downside of the keyboard, is the sidestrips appear to have a bit of a blue tinge no matter what colour you're in. A small setback, but it does not take away from the overall value of the keyboard in the least.

I give this keyboard 10/10, if you can scrape up the money you will be doing yourself a service buying this keyboard.

This keyboard is awesome, I really like the cool lighting scheme on it and the braided wires that assures that it won't stop working due to a damaged wire.

To keep it short, this keyboard is great. Very quick delivery in very good packaging so no issues there. The keyboard itself feels solid and the color lighting effects are very good. It takes some time to get use to the integrated arrow keys within the Num Pad but with practice its easy. The only down side I have to this keyboard (that I will not take away a rating star for) is that it should be mechanical, as the keys (spacebar) have a long "response" time as to retract from compression. I have not felt like it hinders my typing/gaming, but sometimes it feels like i can not press it quick enough like that of older mechanical keyboard.

All this being said, still a great product, pick it up!
