Spartacus: Blood and Sand - The Complete First Season

The first 2 episodes are over the top, very 300-ish and a tad cheesy.. but hang in and keep watching this show gets better and better and better. There is a lot of sex and nudity (male and female), and of course blood, guts (literally) and death...but this show is like nothing else on TV. Many episodes leave you hanging and the season ender had me laying in bed for an hour thinking about it all. If you like this type of show/movie/book you will like this if not love it. If you hate violence and sex makes you blush then pass. It is for sure for mature audiances.

The first couple of episodes in this series are terrible. There is no way around it. It seemed the creators wanted to create a very emotional tone to the series, by having a slo-mo scene every two seconds. It comes off completely cheeseball, and really hurts the first impression you will probably have of this series. It's so melodramatic in these early episodes, that you'll cringe frequently, and question how such garbage has a fan base.

However, around episode four or so, something changed and the show became great. The dialogue is beefed up, the melodrama is taken away, and it starts to tell a really interesting story. The writing is really strong, and you will be wanting more and more as the series goes on. It's as good and addictive as anything on HBO and Showtime.

If you know absolutely nothing of the series though, I'd start with Gods Of The Arena. It doesn't get off to the rocky start of Blood and Sand, and is a great origin story, and proper beginning to this epic series.

Fans of the series Rome will find somthing here, Not as dramatic and not up to the elaborate sets as those used in Rome, but the overall feel is close. What you will get plenty of is death, decapitations, mutilations and just plain out gore. The title says it all, blood and sand.

If you enjoyed epic films like Gladiator and 300, then you will love Spartacus Blood and Sand! This series has it all for it's adult viewers from hard core fight scene's and hot and steamy love scenes. No matter if your male or female, you will want to sit down and keep watching espisode after episode of this thrilling adventure Spartacus takes his viewers on! Rome or the Tudor's are no match for this thrilling show, the creator really captivated the Gladator's and what it might have been like if we were back in those times! I highly suggest this series to anyone who enjoy's the older style of the ages; I don't think it can disappoint it's viewer's.

A lot of sex and full frontal nudity interrupts savage sword fighting, killing, blood flying, lusting action. Slaves to the corrupt Romans, fighting for life, freedom and love, these men become savage like to survive.
It's not for everyone, but I got hooked.
If you don't like nudity and fairly explicit sex don't watch this series.

If you like this type of show (action packed), then watch it. It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Beware, lots of blood and gore. Unfortunately, the last episode was this week.

Très bonne série, scénario intéressant, visuel exceptionnel et que dire du cast parfaitement choisi. J'ai bien l'intention de l'écouter une seconde, et même une troisième fois!

Very good show. My favorite so far. It's very intense with a good story behind all the violence. Spartacus is a must see.

season 1 of spartacus blew me away. This is easilly one of the best tv shows i have ever scene. As you probably know its most blatent characteristics would be that there are incredibly stylish and gory fight scenes and tons of nudity and soft core sex scenes. Nothing like this has been seen on tv before. The characters are all awesome and there is tons of drama and the relentlessness of the writers leaves u not knowing who could possibly live for anyones life seems to be on the line. There are lots of plot twists, backstabbing, and blackmail for the drama junkies and lots of gritty gladiator battles for the adreline junky. The sex scenes will be off putting for some people but if you can get passed it this is a gripping show. My girlfriend and i loved season 1 and cant wait to continue the series. There were so many shocking moments i wont soon forget and i wont spoil them here but i will strongly suggest watching this show, loved it.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Arrived quickly. Brand new. Husband was very pleased with this DVD and is waiting for the next installment Thanks.
