This review is from: Mirrors 2 Bd & Dvd [Blu-ray] [Import] (Blu-ray)
Video: This 1.78:1 on a single layered blu ray disc is direct to video. I usually have reservations about direct-to-video movies, with the exception of Tinker Bell movies. But this one was a pleasant surprise. The picture looked very good in HD, with good contrasts and inky black. There were quite a few scary and violent scenes, right from the beginning, and it was an enjoyable movie. The subtitles were placed where the person speaking was located. (3.5/5)The bonus here is a second movie (standard version) "Into The Mirror", the Korean original from which the first "Mirror" was made. I normally preferred the original Japanese or Korean versions, usually more creepy and gory, like Ringu (for The Ring) and the Grudge. But I was disappointed with the Korean's original version "Into The Mirror". The male actor was a popular actor in Korea, but the story was not scary, more like a detective story. (2.5/5) Audio: The DTS-HD Master Audio was adequate with lots of work-out for the subwoofers. Dialogue was clear. (3.5/5) Mirrors 2 (Unrated) was not a bad scary horror movie, even though it was a low-budget direct-to-video one. There were many violent and bloody scenes, with nudity...definitely for adults only. I did learn something from this movie..."Spectrophobia" for fear of mirrors. If you like to be scared, give this movie a try. Recommended. |
