Naturally disconcerning,
By Alex (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Daughters... (VHS Tape)
Most well-known for its gloriously eerie effects and bizarre artful atmosphere, this film is perhaps one of the best of those which portray vampires as mysterious gloomy entities rather than everyday haywire villains to be chased down by the errant Saturday-morning superhero. The plot is tight and the casting is outstanding. The sets and the camera work is really top-notch, both for 1971 (the film's release) and today. If you enjoy things which have to do with the vampires as known in the early 1900's, you will enjoy this fiml.

Laid back 70`s erotic feeling,
By A Customer
This review is from: Daughters... (VHS Tape)
First to mention are the exciting women in this very 70`s film.I liked the style, the clothes and the look of the film; it`s all kind of red anyhow, so you get this erotic impression. Although the film is really slow and the effects are very unspecial (e.g. the glasbowl cutting the arms of stefan etc.) this film has it`s own flow and lots of charme. My favorite girl is without a doubt Valerie, when she gets catched from the Countess`charisma. If you like Vampire films you should definetily see this one.

Vampirism at its best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Daughters... (VHS Tape)
If vampires are an erotic breed, this film brings with it a subdued feeling which pricks the skin. Tame by today's standards, this film moves with its own classic life. It may be slow in arriving, but it is a journey worth viewing.

Save yourself! Don't see this hideous film!,
By "sephus" (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews

Worse than a merely bad film is a self-important bad film. This monstrosity drips with artsy pretensions, yet is so poorly written, acted and directed that it doesn't even amuse in its badness. By the end of it I felt like a traumatized prisoner.Notes to the director: eerie lighting and bad lighting are two different things. I felt like I needed a flashlight to see what was going on - but then again, maybe the lack of lighting was a small mercy paid us by the director. The screenplay is entirely incoherent, and the actors are absolutely clueless. There's supposed to be some sort of oh-so-erotic lesbian imagery in here, but I've seen better eroticism in the worst European sexploitation films.

In any language, this movie is [....] It was so bad that it made Blackula look like an Academy Award nominee. Keep your money and see a good vampire movie like Blade, Vampire's, Vampire 200 or Dusk til Dawn. I want to wash my hands after writing this review!
