5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific
A wonderful, tearful and joyful movie. Manages to tell a story without lapsing into stereotypes or relying on tired 'arch' and campy humour. The laughs come from situations, not mannerisms - from seeing human commonality rather than human difference. This is a family film about family - and the diversity in family. Great performances, lovely script, a film to be watched...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful European Film, Oct. 17 2012

This review is from: Patrik, Age 1.5 (DVD)
Satisfying, well-made, and cheerful gay films are sometimes few and far between. Thankfully some of Europe has gotten past the Brokeback Mountain phase and more films like Patrick Age 1.5 are being made ("North Sea, Texas" is another one). The three leads fill their roles well and the film keeps the focus on the important story, which is the changing opinions of all the characters as they come together as a family. A recurring shot of Patrick in his bed is a wonderful marker as he stays awake the first night, sleeps the next, and by the end of the film he is comfortably resting under the covers. An intimate and genuine film.
