This movie wins 4 stars for its humour and the way it deals with relationships between the generations. it's not the most polished and the storyline has a couple of flaws, but overall, this is a good story for preteens to adults. Recently widowed Annie, (played by Betty White) who likes to live slightly on the wild side of life, promised her late husband that she would take his ashes back to California, to a place on the coast that holds special memories for the two of them. The only problem is, Annie is now too old and not physically well enough to drive almost 2,000 miles across the country on her own. Her son, played by Richard Thomas, refuses to take her. Consequently, Annie manages to convince her unhappy college granddaughter to go with her.....totally unprepared.
The journey stretches our imagination a bit, but the movie delivers a fun 1 1/2 hours of a good story about reconciliation and communication between the generations in a family. No foul language. No sex.
