Setting themselves apart...,
By Eric Chiasson "Evil Night" (New-Brunswick, Canada) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross (Audio CD)
I'll be honest right from the start; I'm not a huge Death Metal. Nothing against it, not just my cup of tea (or bottle of Jack just to sound more Metal). But when it comes to God Dethroned I can't help but get excited everytime they release a new album. With their last release, "Passiondale", the band gave up the Satanic theme they've been known for since their beginning. Opting to release a concept album about the war of Paschendale really helped God Dethroned set themselves apart from the other Death Metal bands who still uses the same generic "Love Satan, hate God" theme. And what an album it is!!! Their best by a long shot.So comes the following of "Passiondale"; "Under the Sign of the Iron Cross". The band made the smart decision to follow in the steps of their previous effort & make a concept album about WWI. I must say that "Under the Sign" is somewhat of a minor step down from "Passiondale", but that's only because "Passinodale" is so epic. Make no mistake about it... This album will destroy you! The speed & agression are there from start to finish with a few melodic parts that makes a God Dethrone album unique. It's simply impossible to be disapointed with this album; It's God Dethrone at his best. It is a must for all Metal fans & defenitly in the top 10 of best Metal album of 2010. |
