Well when I herd Futurama had been picked up by a new company i was happy because that meant new episodes so i ordered this from amazon because it was such a great price.
The only problem i could see was that they seemed to be going over the edge in there story writing just looking for shock value, in the same way American dad or Family Guy does which is fine if you like that sort of thing but i liked how the show was balanced before.
So this is still funny just be ready for a boat load of Vulgarity not being as nicely counter balanced by good writing

Futurama is an amazing show and a must have!
Futurama is by the creators of the Simpsons and unlike other shows it is packaged in volumes instead of seasons. Up to this point Futurama has been packaged in 4 disc sets with fun plastic covers and consisting of roughly 24-26 episodes. Volume 5,however, is on a 2 disc DVD set in a thin card board box and is in fact considered the first half of season 6. It turns out that all of the Futurama movies are broken down into episodes and are considered season 5, where as the episodes in volume 5 are known as season 6A.
However, I wouldn't let this stop you from getting this show or buying the separated seasons. All the movies can be purchased separately or as a box set and the second half of season 6 or 6B is packaged as volume 6.
I prefer it this way personally, as it makes my DVD collection feel more complete and that I got an excellent price for this season. Futurama is a fun and witty show that is definately worth watching no mater how it's sold!!!

The show it good and the artwork on the case is cool but the inside is a dvd slip in box and in the end will not keep the dvds scratch free and safe

Didn't really know which episodes I would get when I bought this blu ray. Disappointed it only has 13 episodes but what can you do... I like 8/13 episodes and loved maybe 4. Picture and Audio on blu is 10/10, beautiful.

3/5, only buy if it is cheap (15$ CDN) or if you love these episodes.

If you like Futurama you'll like this.
The color and the detail to art have come come a long way since the original series started way back in that last millennium (( 1999 ))
Although not all the episodes are five stars (( but most are )) its good to have futurama back in its original TV version in this year of 2011.
I'm not to sure why they have split up the season they way they have, i mean how is this volume 5 when its part of of a so called season 6?
But when you get right down to it who cares !!!
Futurama is back and Bender is great, nuff said !!!

Since Fox cancelled the show I have been waiting for this come-back.
This season is short but well worth your investment if you're a fan of the show.
Prepare to laugh!

"I'm Back Baby!"

As a longtime fan of Futurama, you can't imagine my excitement when i found out that the show was returning! I eagerly had this preordered, and i can honestly say i've watched EVERY season (including this one now) at least 10 times over. When it comes down to it, it's easy to see the Planet Express crew are better than ever! The jokes do include a bit more vulgarity since censorship regulations (and universal tastes) have changed considerbly since the show was cancelled, but in my opinion they're not over-used, or very offensive. Most episodes also have some sort of underlying message, wether it be with the mass popularity of Mom's eyePhone and Twitcher (iPhone and Twitter parodies) turning people into zombies, or the whole crew fighting for the rights of the Mutant people living in the sewers of NNY. From a technical standpoint, There are less discs to this season compared to previous ones. However, there are more episodes than in previous ones, so don't let that put you off from buying it.

In summary, If you've seen re-runs of Futurama and loved the antics of Fry, Leela, Bender, and the rest of the gang in thier crazy city of New New York, then don't hesitate on this purchase! Their time away from the networks didn't slow them down one bit!

For about $1.25 an episode, it's quite worth it. It's a mighty fine season, and a little more interesting now that they're no longer broadcast on FOX.

Commentaries on all episodes, some good extras, and good quality video, of course.

My only beef is the poor packaging for the DVDs; A thin cardboard outer jacket, then a thin, two-ply piece of cardboard folded in three, with the DVDs sitting inside two slits cut into the cardboard. They'll easily fall out and will surely get a little scratched from removing and inserting them a few times. Lucky for me, I have a nice Case Logic CD book with the rest of my Futurama collection, so the discs will be going in there, adn the box will go into the garbage. Makes me wonder if the Blu-Ray packing is the same.

And the product arrived very quickly.

Exactly what I expected when I put in the order. This series is a very enjoyable one for the cartoon lover and geek in all of us.
