Awsome on Blu-Ray,

This review is from: Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy (Episodes I-III) (Bilingual) [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Though I did not care for the origInal trilogy on blu-ray (I found them to be too cold and digital), I really like the more recent trilogy on blu-ray, they look and sound amazing, and yea there are no special features but I'm not a fan of sitting through hours of special features either, seems every new release has way too many of them, you have to set aside a night or even a week just to watch them all.

In case you are deciding which to buy, the complete saga collection or these separate trilogies, this might inform your decision. The prequel trilogy and the original trilogy DO NOT CONTAIN THE BONUS FEATURES that come with the complete saga. I ordered both sets to see for myself before I say the video below and learned the hard way. There are no bonus discs in the separate trilogies. The complete saga comes with three extra discs full of features. Be warned! That said, the movie discs are identical in the separate trilogies and the complete saga.[...]

Good movies. Liked them.Bla bla bla bla bala bla bal bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla It's absurd to require more words. Please change this requirement. Nobody should be obligated to write more than they want to. It's a free country.

I was very pleased with the quality of the product itself, but rather disappointed with the lack of "bonus material" on these Blu-ray discs (considering the price!). Truthfully... I wouldn't say you get your "monies worth"!.

"I will milk them until they are dry."--George Lucas,
By tvtv3 "tvtv3" (Sorento, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Star Wars Prequel Trilogy (DVD)
There's really not much to say about this DVD box set. It includes the three movies that make up the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy: THE PHANTOM MENANCE, ATTACK OF THE CLONES, and THE REVENGE OF THE SITH. There are some extras on these discs, but don't be fulled by the way they are worded: everything on here has been released before. There is nothing new on the discs (unless there's some Easter egg I haven't found, yet). This is once again an example of George Lucas milking the cash cow for all it's worth. However, I think even die hard Star Wars fans have begun to see that George is really the President of the Trade Federation and have stopped buying re-treads like this. The only reason to buy this DVD box set is if you haven't already purchased thee movies before. Even if you haven't you might be able to buy all three separately and still get them for a total of about $5 less than this set.

La Guerre des étoiles - Trois premiers épisodes,

This review is from: Star Wars Prequel Trilogy (DVD)

This review is from: Star Wars Prequel Trilogy (DVD)
As another reviewer here has already stated, there is nothing new in this box set. What you have here are simply Episodes 1-3 of the recent trilogy, of course set before the classic one. They come with the same old special features. I was at one time an avid Star Wars fan, and now I am getting sick of it. From the cheesy animated spin-off series (and a film), to shameless and endless merchandise items, to defacing his own classic trilogy (masterpieces originally!), to now releasing the long-awaited first trilogy with stickman acting, silly animated effects, laughable sound effects and very poor timing. Even the music feels much less inspired. That's not to say that these films don't have anything to offer; both "The Phantom Menace" and "The Revenge of the Sith" have decent storylines and are moderately enjoyable. If you don't compare them to the classic trilogy that is (in its original condition.) These aren't bad films to watch...once, maybe with a couple beers and a couple friends. But they are not the quality of storytelling that would entice you to view them alone, late night, in your full attention, time and time again. They are simply not classic. Not addictive. They are almost like video games with grander plotlines.A big problem was forcing the actors to perform in front of a blue screen; they had little if anything to interact with. Lucas has no sense of how to direct actors anyway, and so even with talented actors what you get is sterile acting. It actually feels a lot more like a guy-ish daytime soap opera with a killer FX budget; every movement, poise, gesture is controlled by the puppet master. There is little in the way of genuine emotional input by the actors, and coupled with the cheesy animation it comes out feeling like a rehearsal trilogy for a really great film series. These films have a lot of weight in some aspects--like powerful emotional story arches, universal mythical elements, fantastic costume and set design--but on other levels they fall flat. It's really too bad. What's really pathetic is Lucas' humour. "Oooops! UH-OHH!" That is 4-year-old humour, found even in "The Revenge of the Sith" film, which is really too intense for most 10-year-olds. This smells of greed to me; trying to attract the broadest range of viewers possible. In the classic trilogy, the epic inclusion of romance, adventure, science fiction, myth and spiritualism felt like an honest excessive expression from an artist's heart--in making the films of his dreams. But in this trilogy it just feels contrived. The 20-minute-long pod racer chase scene in the first one is unquestionably a shameless set-up for a video game, and more toys to boot. What's really outrageous is how all the behind-the-scenes talents who contribute to the artistry of the characters and settings that draw in a fortune through merchandise get only an official thanks (the big bucks all go to Lucas, and in his interviews he slyly implies that he created the look of Darth Maul and other characters, when all he really did was approve them!) This shrewd business style reminds me of Walt Disney--well, he's not quite that bad...though he comes close. A great series for kids and fanatics, but not for non-fanatical adult movie viewers.

Very happy with my purchase, husband now has both sets and enjoys watching them with my 4 year old. Price was excellent, best price anywhere. Condition was brand new and arrival time speedy. Will order again from this buyer.
