I enjoyed this movie in the theatres, but the english soundtrack on this DVD is only Dolby Digital 2.0, while the French soundtrack is 5.1. Of course now that I've opened the package, the store that I bought it from won't even let me return the disc for a refund.

This isn't a review, but rather a cautionary note: I just rented this DVD at my local shop (Queen West Video) and there was something odd with the soundtrack - Soundtrack 1 was French 5.1, and Soundtrack 2 was Englich 2.1... No 5.1 English soundtrack. The store said this was the regular release of the movie... so I would be careful picking this up. I mean, what is the point of a Michael Bay movie if you aren't listening to it in full surround!?!?

Please don't support Dreamworks by buying this DVD. It is a production error and it looks like they may be replacing the DVD with a cover to suggest that English 2.0 is the way the DVD was intended to be distibuted. We all know that's a total farce and that THEY screwed up by nbot including the English 5.1 audio on this DVD,
Make sure you tell your local Blockcuster, Future Shop and Best Buy and do yourself a favour if you want this movie - order it from Amazon.com or go to the US and buy it.
Canada has been ripped off here and we shouldn't stand for it.

The package says it's in 5.1 Dolby Digital English but it's 2.0 Dolby Digital English. According to the returns policy I'm stuck with it since I opened it. I have had good luck ordering online until now.

I will not be reviewing the movie here - it is a shallow popcorn movie that some will like and some will hate.

However, it seems that a good portions of the region 1 Canada dvds are missing the 5.1 English audio even though the box/case says it has it. When you run the movie, the only options available are English 2.0 and French 5.1 - great for Quebec and some of New Brunswick - the rest will suffer.

Check yours immediately when you get home - return it immediately if it is 2.0 only. Maybe then we can get Dreamworks to re-produce this DVD properly.

This movie is a great movie, probably the best from Michael Bay. The actors are very nice and there's a great chemistry between them. I would have given this movie 5 stars but you will see why I didn't.

The canadian version of the DVD has english and french soundtrack. On the back of the dvd, it is clearly written English 5.1 and French 5.1. Though, when you start the dvd and get to the setup screen, you get English 2.0 and French 5.1. At first, I thought it was a mistake on the setup screen but when actually playing it, it's really in English 2.0... Who the hell decided that the ORIGINAL english soundtrack would be in 2.0 ??? That was my biggest disappointment ever as I was waiting impatiently for this dvd since the theater release of this movie..

So if you don't have a 5.1 theater system, disregard this, but if you do, buy at your own risks.

I saw this movie on sale at Costco today.

The movie is available everywhere else in English DD 5.1, but in Canada, Dreamworks (a voting member of the anti-piracy obsessed RIAA/CRIA) screwed up and didn't only included English DD2.0 on this DVD when it was released two years ago. BTW, the French is DD 5.1.

So they're cheating Canadian English-speaking customers by not telling them that the English audio isn't DD 5.1. Once a DVD is opened you can't return it.

They've had two years to correct this deceptive marketing, but no, like pirates they're still cheating English-speaking Canadian customers on every DVD sale.

This is such a good movie! I didn't buy it off this site so I guess the quality of my movie was better than the other reviews say.. This movie had everything I enjoy, romance (great for the ladies), action (great for the men) and it's a sci-fi (great for everyone)! Makes you feel all of breath because of the suspense.

This movie has a great plot and non-stop action. Ewan McGregor, Steve Buscemi and Scarlett Johansson are excellent in their roles. THE PROBLEM WITH ALL 1-STAR REVIEWS is that people rate the DVD edition, AND NOT THE MOVIE !!! Movie itself is great and entertaining.

Critically panned and a box-office disaster yet after watching this movie I have no idea why. It's a great story with lots of amazing action sequences and all-in-all one of the best movies I have seen in quite some time. I have only one complaint and that is that the 5.1 English soundtrack which is supposed to be there simply is not. I understand that this is a manufacturing defect so I expect this to be remedied so I can exchange the copy I have. The 5 star rating is for the movie alone.
