When I bought it I already know what it was because I watch it on web. And I love it!! People can ask "why buying when you can watch for free?" Hey that cost money to produce it at the first place. You can encourage. And in second place, you don't have only the episodes. Like any dvd/Blu-ray they put special feature. Can be very interesting to see behind the scene how think are make and why they do like it.
I love how they introduce characters and the vision from where they come. The dark atmosphere is really more appropriate to Mortal Kombat, something the movies missing.

But it'll better if they put together some episodes so we don't have to skip the end generic and see the "in the last episode". The episode 1 and 2 can be together without any problem, 4 with 5 and 7 with 8.
And personally I wish it have a french version but no, only english with subtitle french.

This is what MK is about, a nice backstory on a couple of the charecters, can't wait for the next season!

1.0 out of 5 stars Completely missed the boat, Sept. 18 2012

I was warned that this was not very good but being that I am a MK fan, I had decided to take a risk and buy it anyway. There were a few positives but the large number of negatives took over. I will review the episodes separately.

Episode 1: Jax, Sonya & Kano - Part 1

Episode 2: Jax, Sonya & Kano - Part 2

I thought that the part of Kano was acted good and that they did choose the proper actor to do the part. The only things that I sort of disliked about the new Kano is that he had a different type of knife (than in the first MK movie) and he had no accent. Kano is supposed to be Australian, remember?

The parts of Sonya and Jax were not good at all. Sonya looked to old and not attractive. They turned Jax into an emotional wimp (for Sonya) and then gave him a cold/dark personality later on. They also seemed to make the storyline different of how Jax got mechanical arms, basically giving you the idea that he HAD to get them because his original arms were badly injured and that he could no longer use them. In the second MK movie it shows that Jax got the mechanical arms because of his ego and cockyness. I think that Samuel L. Jackson would make a good Jax.

Why did they even have Stryker in these episodes? You only see him twice, he only says three sentences, and he does nothing else.

Episode 3: Johnny Cage

I feel that the actor they chose to play this part was lacking. They portrayed Johnny as a 6 year old having a temper tantrum, basically. They portrayed Johnny as a mopey and sad individual. Johnny should be portrayed as a guy that has so much ego that you could insult him to his face and he would not be fazed. The type of guy that would laugh at your insult and then reply with some smart alik remark. I think that the part of Johnny should be played by Colin Farrell.

Episode 4: Kitana & Mileena - Part 1

Episode 5: Kitana & Mileena - Part 2

Kitana and Mileena were both played good but I felt that Mileena should have had her tarkatan teeth all the time (like in the video game). Mileena's teeth are more often human in these episodes. I felt that these episodes were cheaply made because they had decided to do more animation rather than acting and even the animation was not that great. It was not even normal moving animation! It was more of like slow motion or the use of picture stills.

Shao Kahn was to asian. I think that it would have been better to have Arnold Schwarzenegger act as Shao Kahn because Arnie would have the better body build and emotionless personality (like dispalyed in the first terminator movie).

Baraka, what a joke. He looks like Freddy Krueger.

Episode 6: Raiden

Raiden is portrayed as a wimp and he never does use any of his electrical powers. The part would have been played better by a old actor with white hair. Jack Nicholson would be good for the part of Raiden because I think that he would inject some faint senses of humor into the character.

Episode 7: Scorpion & Sub-Zero - Part 1

Episode 8: Scorpion & Sub-Zero - Part 2

The parts of Sub-Zero and Quan Chi were played perfectly.

Scorpion's hair was to long and it made him look like a hippie. He was not blind until the very end. When he said "get over here" it was not in the normal Scorpion voice. Actually, these two episodes were not even in English. I think that the part of Scorpion should have been played by Jet Li.

Shang Tsung kind of surpirsed me in these episodes. He is portrayed as a younger, shorter, and more asian guy. I think that the actor played the part good.

Episode 9: Cyrax & Sektor

No complaints. A very good episode.
