Time for some record sales??
on December 12, 2011
I anticipated the new release of Ryan Adams with much excitement. With all the trailers of him playing the new material solo I was getting ready to hear the raw, heartfelt songs he has always written but never recorded in a stripped, honest, unproduced manner. Not only did he fall victim again to the overproduced sound that has maligned so many potentialy classic tunes this time he took it to a new level. This disc is slick with cliche guitar riffs and very predictable chord patterns.Done in California sounding like Nashville corn with a commercial mainstream production. Some of the songs that were so touching, raw and honest on the video trailers were hardly recognizable.I played it three times and threw it in my garage sale bin.It made me angry to listen to the manner some of these fine songs were treated. Its ashame because some of the songs are gems as far as the writing goes but not on this recording.I think its time he did a solo album and did some of his tunes here and from the past justice.
