I'll admit, I haven't read the comics. From what I'm told they're a trillion times better (but aren't the comics/books always?) from the perspective of someone who's never read the comics, this was a pretty decent film. The story was a bit lacking, it seemed like they did a super rushed version of whatever it's supposed to be. It def wasn't perfect but it was a good movie overall. I'd def suggest it if you're looking for something fun and exciting to watch on the weekend :)

Coulda been a contender,

Green Lantern has a great cast, nice CG and great source material to draw on. However it is a bit of a letdown. The biggest mistake was making Parallax the villain. Many superhero flicks are only as good as the hero's nemesis, and strangely with the stronger villain, Sinestro (very well played by Mark Strong) sitting right there they chose the less interesting Hector Hammond and Parallax.Really I thought Ryan Reynolds and the overall lighter tone were good, but the lack of a convincing, threatening villain brings everything down. The movie probably would have been better served to follow the plot from the DCU animated Green Lantern First Flight, which Hal has to stop Sinestro after he rebels and gets his yellow power ring, rather than save Earth from the ugly space cloud with a face.

Good, Not Great,

I enjoyed this movie. As a Marvel fan growing up, I didn't read much DC but am still a comic book fan. I didn't know a ton about the Green Lantern story going in, apart from what I'd seen in games or a handful of cartoons or crossover comics.I found the game enjoyable if you don't take it seriously. Don't go in expecting to have your mind blown or to have a nerdgasm over how awesomely they mimicked the comics down to the strands of hair on his head. It's a fun comic hero adventure with some good comedic moments and some nice graphics and acting. I saw it in 3D in the theatre, and am (after writing this review) purchasing the BluRay now that the price has dropped a bit.

I saw this in a theatre when cineplex was giving certain films special prices. At that time, The Green Lantern had already been judged lacking by criticism and underwhelming support of patrons, and I knew that. So, I was pleasantly surprised by the expanse of this film, by Ryan Reynolds' acting, and by the interesting plot twist at the end. That said, however, I have never been a Green Lantern comic fan so this might have helped me in not being disappointed.I very much liked the 'cosmic' edge to this picture.

It has that fun cheese factor that makes me want Cheetos,
This review is from: Green Lantern: Extended Cut (Blu-ray) (Blu-ray)
Ok, sure. This movie has flaws. But remember this is the "introduction to the character" movie. And also remember that GL has to be the toughest character to portray in a live action movie. I put this movie in the same category as the first fantastic four movie, daredevil and ghost rider films. All of these movies could have been much better, but all of them had some cheesy entertainment value. All that being said, I am a huge GL fan and that alone makes it impossible for me to dislike this film. It's sort of like watching a cheesey 1970's kung fu flick. It's fun. I like it, I can't help it. lol. And in this film, they hint that Sinestro will be the main villain in the next GL movie. I HAVE to see that. And I can't wait. Sometimes a good dose of cheese can be fun. To me, this qualifies.

Green Lantern,
This review is from: Green Lantern: Extended Cut (Blu-ray) (Blu-ray)
I too have seen the movie and felt it was lacking in many ways. The story moves along to fast and could have been a lot better done. They missed what the green lantern is truly all about.I give it only three stars, because it could have been done a lot better. They could have made the movie a two partter without really any effort, but instead they choose to play more like a badly written comic book. I hope they do a lot better if they want to continue with this character.

Awesome,

I am a real geek for these types of movies so I really enjoyed it. It is a little quick switching between character story lines but all in all, a great movie!
