Rock Solid!,
By Joanna W. (Mississauga, ON, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Evanescence (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
I enjoyed their previous two albums, but this one is my favourite - because it's the heaviest! Every song is good; beautiful dark melodies, evocative piano & strings, and hard, heavy guitars, bass and drums, all in perfect balance. If you are anything more than a casual listener, I strongly recommend the Deluxe Edition. The 4 extra tracks are as good as anything on the regular album. Plus, the DVD includes not only the music video for "What You Want", but also making-of footage for the album, Amy's comments on some of the songs, and making-of footage for the music video too. I'd been starved for this CD and now I'm satisfied!

Grassroots Sound,
This review is from: Evanescence (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
This takes me back to one of the band's earlier and lesser known album "Origin".Abrasive and powerful. Amy Lee's vocals are just getting better and better.

Worth the wait!,
This review is from: Evanescence (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
Being a fan of Evanescence since the release of Fallen, I have to say this is by far their best work. The album is simply incredible from start to finish. I can't imagine not getting the deluxe version as the few songs included with that continue this masterpiece. The musicianship is incredible as well. I was concerned with the lineup change after The Open Door, but this album has put my worries to rest.I normally don't like the concept of self titled albums, so to myself only, I think this album could have been called "Oceans" as it pulls the name from an existing song on the album and there seems to be a lot of material dealing with water.

New Sound Of Evanescence?,
By Stella Carrier "luckywoman2078" (Hyattsville Maryland) - See all my reviews (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

"Evanescence" by Evanescence starts out with the very strong "What You Want". "What You Want" is very good and symbolizes hope. The rest of the songs were much more quiet and solemn. Her voice quality comes through, but the rest of the songs sound like she may have been under pressure to release the cd quickly. I originally found out about her when I was stationed in Japan and heard her music being played where I sleep. Music from her "Fallen" cd was played on the radio frequently during the time I lived in California. My husband also owned her "Fallen" cd and I enjoyed "My Immortal" from it the most. It is hard for me to say that I would gently recommend checking out her cd from a library first before deciding whether or not to buy it. However, I do wish her continued happiness and intend to give my copy to a local library for Evanescence fans and/or anyone else curious to check out the cd.
