Love this product. It really, really works. I used it while snow hiking and had no trouble starting a small fire.. I carry a small amount of cotton wrapped around the strike plate.

Very good product, impressive results, nice design, a real good bear gryll product as I like. I would have given the perfect score if it only had the magnesium stick on it.

This is a well made tool. Good information written on it. The striker and sparker work well together. The waterproofing is excellent. The only small gripe is that only 1 to 2 tinder can fit in the waterproof storage compartment.

Love it, It's good quality and easy to use with alot of spark, but I had to sharpen the flat of the striker because it was too rounded

From my experience with it: To separate the metal striker and ferrocerium rod it will take some twisting and pulling. It took a few strikes along the rod (to scrape off the black coating on it) with the striker to get good sparks out of it. I suggest you retie the lanyard rope so that you can have a longer distance between the rod and striker; allowing you to easily maneuver when striking the rod and not lose it if either end slips out of your hand. Whistle works. You may not know at first, but at the bottom end of the ferrocerium rod; is a cap and within it there is free tinder. Really great product once you understand it better and get more comfortable with it.In my opinion: Cons * Some may have trouble with separating the rod and striker. Pros * Good design and construction. * Multiple features - Fire starter, storage for tinder, whistle, & even a picture instruction on how to signal for help & S.O.S. Morse code.

Great design and it comes with a whistle too. I was surprised by the size and the weight of this product compare to the ones I find in regular retail store. Great buy for the price

I haven't tested this tool in the field yet but I did test it at home and I can say that it delivers what it promises: it produce a lot of sparkle and, with just a little bit of practice, isn't hard to use at all.
