I have been looking for a small food chopper that will chop WHOLE onions for ages and I am so glad I found this little chopper. It is a lovely size to chop small amounts. Easy to use and clean as it goes in the dish washer but it is also easy to wash by hand.

I bought this KitchenAid Chopper as a replacement for a Cuisinart Mini-Prep Processor that lamentably ended its career by plunging from my kitchen island counter onto a tile floor. The KitchenAid has similar capacity and performs comparably, with a power rating of 240 Watts (vs the Cuisinart at 250W). It is available in a variety of exciting colours. It is 9" tall and about 6" in diameter. The 24" power cord is very stiff. My overall impression of the Chef's Chopper is of cheap Chinese plastic, and it is definitely not worth it's list price of nearly $70...so wait for a 50% off sale. Mine did not come with the "handy spatula" mentioned in Amazon's "From the Manufacturer" description. The Chef's Chopper does a great job for its intended tasks such as chopping garlic, onions, parsley, and for making salad dressing. It has a one-year "No Hassle" warranty, but the chopper must be returned to a KitchenAid Service Centre (which may not be conveniently located to you) - and hang onto your bill of sale!

I purchased this because of the sale after doing research on food processors for my son's baby food. I figured the reviews were mostly positive and you couldn't beat the price. Well after my whole experience, and on my second food chopper. I have to say I am sadly disappointed. I thought Kitchen Aid would be a great brand since I have had the experience of their other brands in the past to be a positive one. Well this is my experience from the date I purchased this two weeks ago...The shipping time was reasonable. I got my item a week later, only to open it to discover before I even use it that the puree button was broken before I had even taken it out of the package. I could hear the little clinking and realized the small tinny plastic mechanism that opporates the buttons had broken off inside. You can see these clearly once you take off the lid of the machine and look under the buttons. Needless to say I sent it back for replacement, which came in less than a week. I was happy of this. Everything looked okay when I opened it. I was excited to get using it to make my son's first foods. Once washed and set up and, contents in the machine. I pushed puree, and nothing happened. I should have checked first I know. So I figured I would try the chop feature since the food was already in there. Well... Apparently the chop feature puree's food.... So no chop feature, but at least I still have the pureeing option which I needed. I really don't want to wait any longer for another one, and maybe the next one won't puree and only chop, so I won't take that chance. I am settling with this one the way it is because my son needs to eat and it's not fair for him to wait any longer. There are other features that are good about the appliance and is why I gave three stars. It is easy to dissemble once you figure out which way to turn. It washes rather easily. Rinses off most of the food before you even start using soap and brush. It takes up very little space and looks really nice. Puree's really well too. If they started using metal components for the push button, or a stronger plastic, this machine would be 5 Stars for sure. But you get what you pay for and I only spent $40 on it, so I assume it only cost about ten dollars in whole for parts and assembly. So there it is... buy at your own risk. If you get one that works completely you are one lucky duck.

This is OK as a product. Does what it says and fluid adding hole on top is useful. However, it was much smaller than I expected and won't take any real quantity. It's kind of OK for one or two people, but for a family? Probably not. Given the cost I was expecting more and in future I'll probably look in the shops before buying - photos can be deceptive. |
