Great Product, Incredibly fast shipping,

This review is from: Leatherman Skeletool Multitool (Tools & Hardware)
This product is great for everyday usage, and I have found myself always having that boxcutter, pair of pliers or screwdriver right at hand. It is well designed, feels sturdy and the knife is incredibly sharp. Be very careful, as simply touching the blade is nearly enough to cut. Something not featured in the description, the product is rather portable as it is no longer than my phone and no thicker than an inch. For a portable, handy knife and simple tool set, this is the perfect choice at its price (I paid 40). As a side note, the product showed up exactly when it was stated to, something uncommon for many amazon products I've ordered.

Great design, workmanship could be better,

I have coveted the Skeletool ever since I first saw it, because of the design aesthetic more than the functionality since I use a Swissarmy Cybertool 41 (which is too heavy to carry in a pants pocket as it wore out one of my pockets and now I just carry it in my bag). The Skeletool has a belt clip which makes the pocket-wear of the Cybertool a moot point.I paid just under $40 for this Skeletool via Amazon's deal of the week. I would not have bought it otherwise. I gave this product 4 stars because the workmanship, compared to a Swissarmy knife, was less than perfect: the cutout in the knife blade used to unfold the knife had a slight burr which caused small surface cuts to my thumb; there are also small nicks on a few edges due to mishandling during production. The instructions on removing the screwdriver bits from the driver could be clearer; the serrated switch needs to be slid back to release the bit. This model comes with a spare Robertson (square) bit which the Cybertool lacks, so I swapped the flat bit in the holder for the Robertson and the kept the Philips bit in the driver; the flat bit went back into the box.

quality doesn't stand up to reputation,

The review is about the tool....not Amazon.ca which we have found to be a very good merchant. We purchased this tool as a gift for our son, prior to a wilderness trip. After a few weeks of use, it started to rust. The knife was not wet but the weather was very humid. However, his other knifes, one a SOG and the other a Buck, had no rust. We contacted Leatherman who refused to refund our money, or upgrade the knife (we offered to pay the upgrade fee), because they said that rust was not a defect. They offered no solutions. Rust may not be indicative of defect to Leatherman, but it is certainly indicative of an inferior product. We will never buy another Leatherman knife.

It's a multitool. The pieces are tight, and it's totally functional. Bought as a gift for my step-dad. He's an avid camper and really enjoyed receiving it. There's even a diagram on the handle to show how to use the bottle opener (In case it wasn't obvious lol)

A bit difficult to grip for a senior. A little pricey for what you get, but I will keep it for small jobs and handy tool jobs.

Purchased this multi-tool to carry with me every day and its definitely a top notch piece of kit. It covers the basics with needlenose pliers, pliers, wire cutters, hard-wire cutters, combo knife, bottle opener and bit driver. Its made of stainless steel with aluminium inserts, wont rust or corrode and its back by Leatherman's world class 25-year warranty.

Good tool, wrong description,

I received this multi tool from one of Amazon's lightning deals, and am very happy with the purchase. I cannot speak on the long term durability of this tool yet, but can say that it is a very well made, sturdy tool, and the knife is very sharp. The tool itself is smaller than I realized, which if perfectly fine as I wanted it to be small. In total, the tool might be 4 inches long, and the blade is about 3 inches long and is not very wide. The blade is sharp, and is half serrated.**Amazon's description of the item is incorrect** This item states in the product description that it includes "Large Bit Driver, Robertson 2 and 3 square drive" but no Robertson square bits were included. Amazon says they just post what the manufacturer gives them, and they cannot do anything about it. They were helpful in making it up to me in other ways, but just don't expect to get the square bits when ordering this. For those, you will have to invest further into the 21 piece bit kit, which I am now looking at purchasing. I did use the screwdriver today, and it is useful but takes a little getting used to as the handles make it a little awkward. It might have been nice if the bottle opener flipped out so that the driver could be used without opening the handles, but it still works fine. It came with two bits, one double sided slot and one double sided Philips. My preference would be to have received 2 bits, one double sided with a 2 and 3 Robertson, and one double sided with a small slot and small Philips. **People should note that the bits are not your standard size hex bits and you need to have Leatherman bits or they wont fit in the driver** This knife is good for a telecom technician to carry for emergencies to avoid running to the truck for tools. It has most of the essentials. The cutters cut through cat5 no problem (haven't tried anything harder yet) but the length of the cutting blades is small so it takes two cuts, and it doesn't cut the small string (but the knife would). Overall I highly recommend this multi tool to those considering something basic and lightweight who need a screwdriver. It is a good small size, but still large enough to be efficient. The fact that it does not include all of the extra pieces that some multi tools do (file, saw, etc) makes this a great option for those of us who don't need the extra tools and don't want the extra bulk for a tool carried daily. If you don't need the driver, the Leatherman Style CS or the Leatherman Freestyle might be more appropriate. This is my first Leatherman purchase (and first time purchasing any multi tool that cost more than $10). I always say that it is worth while to spend a few extra dollars for the better quality tool, and this is no exception.
