1.0 out of 5 stars Fails soon, international warranty useless, March 7 2012

This review is from: Acer Aspire One AOD270-1892 10.1-inch Netbook (N2600, 1GB DDR3, 320 GB SATA, HDMI, Bluetooth)(Black) (Electronics)
I bought an Acer netbook for my son, who was going to France on a student exchange. It failed in less than one week - it wouldn't find the hard drive. Thankfully the store replaced it right away.

The second unit failed exactly the same way, but it was already in France with my son. Good thing that it comes with an international travellers warranty, right? Wrong!!

The support centre in France keeps making excuses for not reparing the unit, no matter how much documentation we send. They just won't fix it, and Canada's support centre says they can't do anything. The international traveler's warranty is useless, at least in France.

Apparently quite a few PC makers got stuck with a bad batch of Intel motherboard chips that result in early failures, such as not being able to recognize the internal hard drive.

Stay away from Acer netbooks if you're planning on taking them overseas - they fail soon and you can't count on having them fixed there.
