5.0 out of 5 stars Very creative and capturing!
I watched the whole 4 part series on Global TV, and I am definitely ordering it on DVD. It is the telling of Titanic with a very creative story-line, involving many different characters from different classes in society. My favorite story-line was the Maloney Family and the mystery man.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent
I'm a big Titanic buff. Have been since I was really young. This isnt the best retelling of the story, not by a long shot, but its not the worst either. It was an interesting way of looking at it though. The sets are totally inaccurate but that doesnt bother me much. Im ok with set errors, its the actual history thats important to me. There were a lot of inaccuracies but I still enjoyed it. My main complaint was that it seemed very rushed. Ive read that there is an extended cut dvd on the way. Hopefully it'll be available here soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars For adults, Better than the Movie, Dec 12 2012

This review is from: Titanic: Miniseries (DVD)
From the gifted pen of Julian Fellowes- the writer of Downton Abbey- this is an interesting, entertaining dramatization of social and economic class distinctions in the early 20th century set against the backdrop of the tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic. Personal relationships within and across social classes is the over arching dramatic theme that plays out over four tightly interwoven episodes. While the mini-series offers some romance it is very much a period piece that is not overwhelmed by the type of romantic entanglement that dominates the James Cameron movie. In this sense some viewers may find the story and the dramatization less exciting than what they were expecting or would have liked. Not me, as I enjoyed the emphasis on the far more interesting historical themes. The series also features strong acting performances and excellent production values. I would recommend that this mini-series be watched in tandem with the other related mini-series released this year titled Titanic: Blood and Steel which consists of 12 episodes. Blood and Steel should be watched first as it dramatizes the history of the design and building of the Titanic set against the political and labour strife of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It ends where Titanic begins. Both are available from Amazon which continues to offer great pricing and awesome customer service. Enjoy.

it could be just me but this story plods along. although it did bring the friction between the classes, ones that were broken done with the advent of a middle class in america, to light. Will give it credit for being well cast and visually well done.

Great miniseries of Titanic. I just received my DVD copy yesterday and I watched all 4 parts in one evening. Too bad it wasn't longer with a little more character development. Otherwise very well done !!
