5.0 out of 5 stars BACK ON TOP AGAIN
Van Morrison has once again proven that his creative ability is outdone only by his own: true greatness. To hear him play piano and sax throughout the CD is truly a joy to behold.

3.0 out of 5 stars Van Morrison
I hope that the newness to me of this CD is the obstacle to my being able to give a glowing report. I am a long-time fan of Van Morrison, but do not feel the connection to this one that I have felt to others immediately. Not a favorite, but as I say, it is new and certainly can be appreciated for Van's voice and poetry.

Born to Sing: No Plan B is the first original CD from Van the man since 2008's Keep It Simple, and it has been well worth the wait.
This album is a superb mixture of soul, jazz, blues and rock. The instrumentation is very sparse, tasteful and well recorded.
The main theme of the songs is based on the wisdom Van has gained from his years in the music business. They centre on the perils of success, anti materialism and the fight to maintain your soul in spite of it all.
Morrison's voice, with it's unique tone and phrasing, is in fine form.
The solos are mostly horns and keyboards although there are a couple of very nice guitar solos.
Overall, an excellent album.

this is just NOT the Van Morrison of old - if you liked "Van Morrioson style blues", this is not the recording to buy. If you like "Van Morrison Jazz" it might be. Very disappointed.

Typical Van enjoyable but not stand out. Too bad it wasn't pressed on vinyl considering all his other recent ones are.

You are reminded of several of His best earlier work. It is absolutely perfect to listen to or have playing in the background for almost any occasion.
