While Bond "inspired" muzak/instrumental albums of dubious quality abound, this CD set distinguishes itself by being a return to classic from-the-movie soundtrack material. Disc 1 features all of the title tracks, as you heard them during the opening credits, from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace. Noteworthy is that the track for From Russia with Love is the vocal version which is from the closing credits (thankfully the correct instrumental version is presented on Disc2). The second disk contains broad samplings from the soundtracks, at least one from each film, which will be oh so familiar to any fan who has taken in repeat viewings of the Bonds. Under the Mango Tree, the 007 theme (which is distinct from the Jame Bond theme), and Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are just some of the juicy music bites. Other tracks consist of familiar instrumental themes such as Switching the Body from Thunderball or The Pyramids from The Spy Who Loved Me. For many of the later films it is pop songs from the closing credits which are included.
Fidelity is excellent, commensurate with the recording practices of the various eras.
The only strike I have to make is the omission of Skyfall. The release date of this CD set predate the film by only a couple months so there is no excuse for it to be missing from this otherwise comprehensive collection.

"Best Of James Bond: 50th Anniversary" contains a wonderful selection of songs to go with the adventure and action theme in James Bond. I really enjoyed so many of the songs in this soundtrack that it is hard for me to pinpoint the favorites on this one. Plus, there is a song for everyone on this soundtrack. The following artists are among some of the many featured in this soundtrack: Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Duran Duran, A-Ha, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Garbage, Madonna, Chris Cornell, and Jack White. There are also multiple artists on the second cd that are very well known. However, I am surprised that "Skyfall" by Adele was not included on this soundtrack. I recently saw and enjoyed the "Skyfall" film (starring Daniel Craig) and felt that Adele's version of "Skyfall" was a perfect fit to the movie. "Best Of James Bond: 50th Anniversary" (2 cd set) is best for those who like at least any one of the James Bonds films and/or at least five of the theme songs.
