The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.,

This review is from: Crossfire Hurricane [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I was really pumped for this documentary when I heard it was coming out. It's not bad, it's just not that great. I was expecting something along the lines of 25x5 back in the 1980's. In that film through interveiws and clips the chronologically told the story. You know talk about the Ed Sullivan show while showing a clip. In this it's just random footage of the era with random comments. Most of the footage has been seen before. That's the ugly. The bad is none of the film has been restored so some film has ghosting or blurs because of the low quality (tried on two systems did it on both). Another negative is the documentary only goes up to 1981. 1989 to present are not even touched. The Good. There are some great clips in the doc. even the blurry clips are sometimes good because it's footage that's never been released. The best thing on this disc is the bonus. Two complete songs of the Stones performing in Germany with Brian Jones. I have never seen anything but clips before or parshely fake performances with the band playing to a backing track. This doc. doesn't suck it's just for their 50th anniversary they could have done it better. Plus how do you tell 50 years of history in under two hours. I was hoping for something like The Beatles Anthology. Like I said it's good but could have been so much better!

Was expecting something like the Beatles anthology and was disappointed. Great old clips and interviews with the band especially Keith were great. Needed to talk about music more. Seemed to glorify their excesses and did not get to deep. Happy to have bought and will watch again. Only for hardcore fans.

Absoloutely fantastic! The interviews and performances from their early days were wonderful to see! The narration was really fantastic too, especially when Keith did it!

This is a excellent Rolling Stones documentary, I own alot of Stones DVD's, CD's and books, but with this 50th Anniversary documentary, there was alot of private footage I'vr never seen before. I expected it to be great, BUT it was even better than I expected. If you are at all interested in the Rolling Stones, then I highly recommend this DVD. 5+ Stars!!!!

I found the events recorded in the bands developing years fascinating. It really gave a good glimpse at the social revolution, a significant part of recent history, and how it affected the band.
