Ah. I like books. I like *good* books.
This is cliche after cliche. There is too much unnecessary sex talk (all the female characters seem to either be sex objects or nymphomaniacs). Yes, in any male-female interaction either the guy is horny, the gal thinks the guy is horny when he isn't, or some other sexualised something is going on. It's fine in its place but this is more like secondary school. OMG - boobies! Can't-think-about-anything-except... boobies!
I'm not averse to sex, but in a fantasy series, this much, and this badly done... no. It reads like Mills & Boon (or, what I assume Mills & Boon might read like).
The characters are generally cardboard (I'm not good enough/I'm sweet and innocent/I'm gay), the magic is ok...
I mean... it's not *terrible* or anything. It's just not very good. There's nothing new here - no deep moral questions, nothing that makes you think. Not a great deal that shocks because it isn't that believable.
Humdrum, middle of the road. Dull.
