I saw this at the theater when it first came out. We were fascinated with the Sensurround speakers sitting in the back, they were huge. During the earthquake scenes, the whole place vibrated and shook. It was by far the best and loudest soundtrack for it's day. When the first release of this movie came out it sucked. Only a stereo soundtrack and a non-anamorphic picture. This new version is far superior, having both a 5.1 soundtrack and a 3.1 Sensurround track as well. I find that the 5.1 gives the better overall sound but try the 3.1 also. This version is also anamorphic and fills my 42" LCD right to the edge with all the "special" effects of the day!
