From my experience with tribute cds, usually they don't work out very well. The problem with a tribute cd is this, the origianl star who had all these huge hits has his or her signature on these songs and it is very hard to top this stature that has been established. These songs usually can't be duplicated very well.

I feel like the way to do a tribute cd is simple. The artist that is trying to play tribute should try to sing the songs in their own style and pray that it works. Sometimes a miracle will happen and you will do alright.

In the case of Ms. Hampton, I feel like she did a good job of remaining true to herself and being nobody but Ann. I feel like she didn't compromise her style for this cd.

Another bright spot for this cd was the accompaniment. Her musicians really gave a superb effort. It was obvious that they really enjoyed performing these songs.

All and all, I believe the pieces of the puzzle came together nicely. BRAVO TO ANN AND HER GANG!
