This knife was recommended to me. I tried to view it in a store before purchase but the sealed packaging doesn't allow for it.I found the sheaf protected the user from the blade, but where it failed was in the use of Velco tabs to secure the knife in place. I would have preferred something longer lasting. Moving onto the knife. I was happy with the blade and firestarter, but I found the handle far too thin for comfort. The whistle is just a waste and constantly in the way.
Overall I rate the knive as average. You are paying for the Bear Grylls name and gimicks rather than overall quality.
